The Rott DEMS campaigned on lower taxes and working together works. Then they raised everyone's taxes but their own. Most people here grasp that. Working together works is political crapola that only a few morons still fall for.

We had a strong candidate however she decided not to run...Why? Because the Goofster said if he wasnt endorsed he'd primary thus doing to her what he did to tommasone! Yeah. No. Big. Deal. The goofster is the epitome of im taking my ball and going home only problem is his sandbox is the town and his ball is the supervisors office! I just hope after he loses for the second time that he fades away into oblivian!!!!!!!! if he continues to threaten candidates and chase candidates out of the race so he can try to win it'd be very unfortunate. For someone who claims not to be a politician he is as dirty as they come!

Fdg - had his taxes lowered
Nd - had her taxes lowered
Bm - fighting to lower everyone's taxes

ROTTERDAM
Board: Official’s taxes set too high
Lawsuits dropped in supervisor case

BY MICHAEL LAMENDOLA Gazette Reporter

The Rotterdam Town Board has settled Supervisor Frank DelGallo’s tax certiorari case, agreeing with him that assessments on his home and business had been set too high.
The board approved the agreement 3-0 Wednesday night, with DelGallo abstaining and Deputy Supervisor Robert Godlewski absent.
Town Attorney Joseph Liccardi said the agreement ends DelGallo’s lawsuit against the town in State Supreme Court in Schenectady County dealing with his 2009 and 2010 property assessments.
Liccardi said the agreement reduces assessments on DelGallo’s Mariaville Road home from $1.4 million to $795,000 and on his Burdeck Street business from $782,000 to $380,000.
“The agreement brings his assessments to approximately the same level of assessments that were on his properties following the revaluation done by GAR Associates and in 2007, which went into effect in 2008,” Liccardi said.
The GAR Associates revaluations put DelGallo’s properties at $675,000 and $285,000, respectively. In court papers, DelGallo said his residence is worth $250,000 and his business is worth $200,000.
Liccardi said he did not know when nor why Town Assessor Craig Surprise doubled DelGallo’s assessments, other than the action occurred sometime after the GAR revaluation. “It was an unexplained increase from 2008 to 2009. We did not see anything that justifi ed a doubling of the assessed valuation,” he said.
Board member Nicola DiLeva Wednesday night said DelGallo was unjustly taxed.
DelGallo filed suit in 2009, singling out Surprise for increasing his assessments. He said the increases were unjustified as he had not made any significant improvements to either property.
In his run for supervisor in 2009, DelGallo included a pledge to reform the assessor’s office. In campaign literature he disseminated before the election, he pledged to restore “dignity and respect” to the office. “The current assessor, Mr. Craig Surprise, does not treat residents or businesses with proper respect,” the campaign fl ier stated. “That’s wrong.”
After his election as supervisor, DelGallo submitted a 2010 budget that cut Surprise’s salary in half. A few months later, Surprise left the town’s employment after the board gave him a severance package equal to roughly 20 percent of his annual salary plus dental benefits. He was in the second year of a six-year term.
Surprise had been appointed by former Supervisor Steve Tommasone, a Republican, in 2008. Within four months of taking offi ce, Surprise uncovered what he considered to be a number of serious discrepancies in the town tax rolls. Under his advice, the Republicandominated board commissioned a private study of the revaluation and then used the findings of the study to file a lawsuit against GAR. ......................>>>>....................>>>>...................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01200&AppName=1
