Unfortunately it is dying a sloooooow and painful death.  Just another example of a $hit investment by our economic central planners.

When you allow politicians to risk taxpayer money, they make political decisions.  When you create an economic environment so entrepreneurs are willing to risk their own money, they make economic decisions.

It's a sports bar in the middle of a slow sports season, basketball, football and hockey are all on break. I was there last saturday night for the UFC and the
place was packd from 8pm til midnight. I think the novelty of it being a resteraunt will wear off and it will make it's bread and butter off of the sportsbar crowd that its aimed at.

Sorry to burst your bubble.  I don't know your age, but as a recently retired bar hopper, I like to think I know my bar/restaurants.  Local bars/taverns begin dying out when Saratoga season begins - then it will be DEAD.  Rotterdam is a neighborhood bar/tavern town.  The novelty will wear off, and all that will be left is prices and service.  And in my experience, the prices are HIGH and the service is mediocre.  They will never be able to maintain the selection of beer on inventory or the large menu selection, and still make money.  There is a lot of square footage to heat and cool, and a lot of T.V.'s...That translates into a TON of overhead.  Rotterdam will NEVER be a entertainment attraction since there is no commercial density or entertainment district like there is on Wolf Road in Colonie, or Saratoga's Caroline St. and even Albany's Pearl St.  I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, you can call me a Nattering Nayboo of Negativity, but Recovery cannot survive on local Rotterdam patronage.  Rotterdamians are frugal...They would rather pay $3 for a pint of beer at a bar with 3 T.V.'s than $4 dollars for the same beer at a bar with 25 T.V.'s.

Ciero, you make some good points, but I still think that once track season is over and football season starts, the place will be hopping once again. Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays they will get the NFL crowd and Saturday's the college football crowd. The NFL ticket and excellent TV setup, will get the word out and bring in people from Schenectady. They opened this place at aweird time of the year. Sports Bars do their best in the fall and winter up til the super bowl. They opened right after the bowl?

Better Rotterdam, I can name a half dozen bars in a 5 mile radius of Recovery that carry the NFL ticket and the cost of drinks are 25% cheaper.  The Ninety Nine at the Rotterdam Square Mall has become a chain restaurant hot spot for the NFL ticket.  There are also MANY neighborhood bars that offer the ticket. In my estimation, the Recovery will need a lot of out of town patronage in order to turn a profit...Oh yeah...And HUGE tax breaks.

The county records show the total assessed value of 1925 Curry Rd.(Recovery) at $1.5 million BUT, the total 'Taxable' is $700K.  Why is the taxable value 50% less than the assessed value?  Anybody...Anybody...Bueller...Bueller...

Well the huge tax breaks, (which I think are unfair) do feed into my argument that this establishment will be successfull and have a long tenure at this location.

Rollarama, I peeked at your property assessment and how much you are taxed.  If I were you, I'd be PISSED.  It appears you don't get the 50% property tax break.

Been to the recovery twice. Service was slow. Food was mediocre. Both times! Would we go back? No!

However, I do hope they succeed, but also do not believe that rotterdamians alone will not be able to sustain the business! Even the bank is empty. I hear the bank is out trying to drum up business cause they aren't getting any! Vision? Planning?

The word is out and it ain't good. Boring food, slow service and headache decor. People don't drink in the summer? lol. Know town residents that go to RR in Amsterdam. As many here predicted this will do nothing for town coffers. A total disgrace that town industrial development funds were dumped into this governmental gin mill. But working together works! For them-never you.

It's typical Rotterdam. when a new business opens, residents flock to it and you either wait in long lines or can't find a parking spot...for about 3-6 months. After that, the blush is off the rose.

Cutting their property tax bill in half while their competitors pay full value isn't success.  It's government propping up one business at the expense of surrounding businesses in the same industry.

If Recovery was a brand new roller skating rink paying half the taxes you pay, AND you lost 20-30-40 percent of your customer base, you would be singing a different tune.

It is a slow season for sports ---  probably a good time to schedule a few fundraisers there.
