McCain was one of the few Republicans that I've ever supported on the national level.

In 2000 a much younger John McCain was running against George Worst Bush for the nomination.
In NY, the state Republican party did a good job of keeping McCain off the ballot in the primary.
If you remember back then, McCain was running as the Anti- Republican... a reformer who was going to
clean up the way elections were financed.  Of course, that was the last thing that The Republican Party
wanted to hear.
That was the end of McCain's actual "maverick" ideas.

I read McCain's book, "Faith of My Fathers".  An interesting read, that was none too flattering to McCain's
past.
Some interesting facts about McCain:

~Both his father and grandfather were admirals of the United States Navy. The senior McCains were
the first father-son pair to achieve four star admiral rank.

~After High School, McCain enrolled in the US Naval Academy, where he earned over 100 demerits
every year, joining the 'Century Club'

~He graduated with bottom rank: 894 out of 899 people in his class.

~In his early days, he was known as a subpar pilot, crash landing once during aviation training after
his engine quit during landing, again in Spain after flying too low and getting entangled in power lines,
and again after his engine stalled over Virginia.

~In 1967, he was called to action in Vietnam, on the aircraft carrier USS "Forrestal." By this time,
he had become an excellent aviator and led his first five attacks without incident.
While taking off from the carrier for another mission, McCain's jet was struck by a rocket accidentally
fired across the deck. The impact caused McCain's jet to catch fire, and knocked two bombs loose.
McCain escaped by crawling to the nose of the jet and jumping off onto the burning deck. A
minute and a half later, one of the dropped bombs exploded, striking McCain with shrapnel in his
legs and chest. The Forrestal fire ultimately killed 132 sailors, injured over 60 more, destroyed 20
aircraft, and took an entire day to get under control.

~After flying 22 more bombing missions without incident, McCain's plane was hit over central Hanoi.
He broke both arms and one leg after being hit and ejecting from his plane.

~He fell into Truc Bach Lake unconscious, and nearly drowned.
After regaining consciousness, he was surrounded by an angry mob. They spat on him, kicked him
, and had his clothes torn off. His shoulder was broken with the butt of a rifle and his left foot and
abdominal area were bayoneted before he was taken to Hoa Loa Prison, sarcastically nicknamed the
"Hanoi Hilton"

~His captors continued beating McCain in the hospital, coercing his ship and squadron name, and
their intended bombing target. When pushed to give the names of his squadron members, he gave
the names of the National Football League's Green Bay Packer's offensive line.

~To this day, McCain cannot lift his arms over his head from the injuries and torture sustained
during this period.

~All told, McCain was held as a PoW for five and a half years,

An interesting life!

So I'm curious why Mitt is so secretive about his finances? Why has he only released his 2010 returns and "estimated" 2011 returns? What about prior to 2010? Why estimated? Does this kinda smack of hypocricy andraise eyebrows that he is hiding something? Come on MITT, show us.

Mitt will release his financial records right after Obama releases his college records.

Like that is apples to apples? Like Bush's college and military lies? Please....financial release is required by law for a reason. If Mitt never went to college, I really don't care...if Obama failed college classes I really don't care. But if their financial wealth is based on investments off shore or in areas they will have influence, then I have a problem with it. How can they claim to be capable of roving our domestic economy if their wealth is not based on it....there's a conflict there.

It's not about failing classes but who paid his bills and how he received foreign student status when he's wasn't a foreign student, or was he. If there was any problems with Mitt's finances the Dems would have already found them.

I am hardly a romney fan and won't vote for him........but did he 'earn' his money? And is he the first 'wealthy' president? And what exactly 'illegal' has he done to obtain his 'riches'?

there are plenty of 'real' reasons not to vote for him. Because he has $$$ seems a bit of a stretch...no?
And as far as being 'out of touch' with the average joe....OMG.....they all are!!!! It's all about the 'system' and who can play the game and get the best results. The 'system is one huge global machine........only those who are willing to sell their souls to accomplish the end global results will be 'selected'......not elected!!

I don't believe I question that he is rich or if he earned it. I question how objective he can be on fixing our domestic economy when his wealth is driven by off shore investments.

ALL wealthy folks obtain their wealth from off shore investments!!! That is a given...always was...always will be!!

I told you......it's a 'global system'! Step up into the year 2012!!

the u.s. stock market is GLOBAL!! if you have money in any financial institution....your money is being used to prop up stocks from around the world!! Small change in comparison to the fat cats....but the end results are just the same!!

IT'S GLOBAL!! There is no off shore anything!!! We are living in the final creation of a one world government and economic system!!!

it doesn't take a brain surgeon here!!

ALL wealthy folks obtain their wealth from off shore investments!!! That is a given...always was...always will be!!  Disagree...this is only the case over the last 10-12 years and more evident in the last 8 years or less becuase of our move to Asia with business

I told you......it's a 'global system'! Step up into the year 2012!! I'm very into 2012 and beyond...I live it everyday...just waiting for the turn around. History does repeat itself, and some of it is starting to repeat. Read financial times about disalusionment of many companies that have gone overseas and struggling on how to return and regain what they have lost

the u.s. stock market is GLOBAL!! True, BUT I'M NOT RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT TOUTING HOW I AM GONG TO TURN AROUND THE US ECONOMY WHEN I HAVE A FINANCIAL INCENTIVE NOT TO ! if you have money in any financial institution....your money is being used to prop up stocks from around the world!! Small change in comparison to the fat cats....but the end results are just the same!!

IT'S GLOBAL!! There is no off shore anything!!! We are living in the final creation of a one world government and economic system!!! WOW, that is as far fetched a statement as I've seen in a long time....maybe if you ask the foreign Governments if they agree you might be surprised, becuase that is not an opinion they share.

it doesn't take a brain surgeon here!! You're right...it only takes looking around at the world we live in, outside of the dark tinted glasses some choose to wear

PS - THOSE ARE ONLY MY FEELINGS AND OPINIONS...NOT TRYING TO PUSH THEM ON ANYONE AND NOT LOOKING FOR PEOPLE TO AGREE...JUST VOICING MY THOUGHTS!

If Mitt would release his tax information, as the law says he must, then the public could determine if he has
done anything ILLEGAL to obtain his riches.
Possibly Mitt DID EARN his money.  Possibly!

There is no law requiring this disclosure -- so Box's implication that Romney is not doing what the law requires is just another fruitless attempt to attack Romney.

Dem. Chair Invested in Swiss Banks, Foreign Drug Companies, and the State Bank of India
11:55 AM, JUL 10, 2012      • BY DANIEL HALPER

Disclosure forms reveal that Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a member of Congress from Florida, previously held funds with investments in Swiss banks, foreign drug companies, and the state bank of India. This revelation comes mere days after the Democratic chair attacked presumptive Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney for holding money in Swiss bank accounts in the past.

"Americans need to ask themselves, why does an American businessman need a Swiss bank account and secretive investments like that?" the DNC chair, a chief surrogate for President Obama's reelection team, said on Fox News Sunday two days ago. "Just something, a thought, that I'd like to leave folks with."..............................>>>>..................>>>>...............http://www.weeklystandard.com/.....nk-india_648350.html

Oh MY GOD!  This IS Funny!!!

Many headlines are written with a specific audience in mind.  This is one of those headlines.
Please, just take one minute and ACTUALLY READ THE TEXT... unless you're a faithful FoxSnooze
viewer... in that case, you probably will just believe the headline.

According to this article... the offending Democrat had between $1,000 and 15,000 in her IRA.
(Not the millions and millions that The Mittster had in a PERSONAL SWISS BANK ACCOUNT) but no,
like many Americans Debbie is saving for her retirement with a personal IRA... (A taxable investment,
unlike Mitt's TAX FREE accounts).
The particular IRA that Ms Wasserman invested in, no doubt a diverse account, as most of them are,
had as part of it's portfolio, investments overseas in a two foreign banks (fully taxable) and a
foreign drug company (fully taxable).

Amazing that some lame GOP blog would attempt to portray a few thousand dollars in an IRA, to
Romney's millions invested overseas for the purpose of avoiding taxes.

This entire issue is just one more GOP scam, attempting to take the focus away from the TAX AVOIDING
GOP PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE.
How embarrassing for the GOP!

Truly Pathetic!

Romney Stayed at Bain 3 Years Longer Than He Claimed:

Mitt Romney "has repeatedly sought to distance himself from some business dealings at Bain Capital by
asserting that he left the firm in February 1999, but a review of public records shows that his authority
lingered for three more years as Bain repeatedly listed him on government filings as the man in charge,"
the Boston Globe reports.

"Until 2002, when Romney and Bain Capital finalized a severance agreement, he remained the firm's 'sole
stockholder, chairman of the board, chief executive officer and president,' according to SEC documents.
The description was applied even to the creation of five new Bain partnerships a full three years after
Romney has said he relinquished all control."
