The town will have a new park and a new multi-generational community center some day -- hopefully by 2020 -- and it will be because of   a small group of residents  (from ALL political parties) who have worked hard together to ste and implement the goals.

OMG! Is this the official DEM position? The town DEMS are out of their minds. New Town Hall, new park, New police station, new "muti-generational" rec center. Give us a break. More taxes! As I said if DEMS are re-elected second only to the City in highest taxes.

     The current town hall is more than adequate. The parking issue will disappear after November when the DEM funny farm is thrown out of office. Concerning long range planning-nice buzz words but someone intelligent has to be listening to the public input. Someone with planning, business expertise. Until then very few will waste time trying to reason with you. All these DEM spending follies will be trashed after November.

I speak for only for myself.  

But I am assured that support for the Vision 2020 Town Parks & Recreation Plan is there ... as I have said all along  as the  PRIVATE DONATIONS and FEDERAL AND STATE GRANTS are secured  --- the new park will be developed incrementally ....   and the cost to the town taxpayers will be negligible if anything.   Remember, the Parks and Recreation Commission very cautiously and prudently has stated it may take a number of years to complete the development of the park  --- that is precisely why the plan is call  VISION 2020 .. it gives us a 9 year horizon to work in.

The same would be true for a multi-generational community center  --- which is only in the very earliest conceptual stages.  We haven't even begun looking at possible sites or discussing what the facility would even look like   --- my best guess is that a specific proposal for a mlti-generational community center is [i]at least /i] 5 years off  (unless we get a donation of land or funds that allows us to move faster)

Oh -- and by the way -- people are willing to donate lands for parks .. I know of at least 4 parcels that people are willing to donate to the town for use as parks.

Maybe you can ask the head of the County Legislature, Judy Dagostino what's happening with donations of land for parks.  By the way, have they finished the purchasing of that land for the Rotterdam Little League yet?  And will Supervisor DelGallo get to break ground on the new park prior to election day this November?  As the leader of the County Legislature who has promised to go ahead and make the purchase to replace land that was swiped out from under the Little League by someone years ago (Oh, wait, that was one Judy Dagostino, but back then, she had an (R) next to her name, so it must be a Republican issue, not something we need to worry about).

#1 -- the land has been purchased by the county and plans for the new ballfields are being worked out by Rotterdam Little League

#2 -- no land was "swiped" from under the little league then or now .. the little league NEVER owned the lands that they have been playing on ... they were the GUESTS of the owners of the property

#3 -- I have the HIGHEST REGARD for Mrs. Dagostino and your nasty accusations have absolutely no credibility

#4 -- The Parks and Recreation Commission backs the proposal to build new ballfields -- we would have preferred that the new facility would be a  flexible, multi-sport facility .. that could be used by baseball/softball teams  ... and by football/soccer teams.    The Little League has NOT approached the Parks Commission forhelp in either designing or raising funds for the new ballfields   ---  so it is not on our commission's agenda of projects that we are dealing with.  We are willing to help -- IF they come to us but otherwise we have "other fish to fry".

How much is it going to cost the taxpayer to maintain the proposed ball fields annually for the children to play games?  

We are paying an exorbitant amount in school taxes.  Is there a regulation disallowing little league to use the facilities already in place at our schools?  

It will all be "free" according to democrap spokeman (Democrapic Voice of Reason) Ron Seversen. It won't cost anything, just like the 100 acre park, the new police station and the new court room and town hall campus where for 30 million (no cost to the taxpayers of course) we can centrally locate everything in one spot to make the life of the bureaucrat easier. It will "free" just like when Harry Buffardi wanted to add a horse patrol to look nice in parades. That was supposed to be "free" as well. Rest assured Rottendam, your taxes will go DOWN if you elect a new democrapic slate to office!

I have made  NO COMMENT on the cost of the proposed Little League ballfields in the old Dickershaid's Pit --- IT is NOT a  project on the agenda of the Rotterdam Parks and Recreation Commission at this time  ... and is not in any way a part of the Bicentennial Park proposed for Rotterdam Junction.   I have made no statements regarding the cost to purchase the lands for or develop the ballfields in the old Dickershaid's PIT  because the project is being put forward by the county, the little league and private concerns --- IT IS NOT A TOWN PROJECT.
If - at some future date - the county transfers the land to the town or the little league approaches the Parks & Recreation Commission for assistance THEN it may become a town project .. but that ball is in the little league's and the county's court.

No town tax dollars have been requested for the Bicentennial Park proposal -- most of it can be paid for with PRIVATE funding sources and some state and federal grants.  

Town spending has NOT increased by  making the proposal -- the fact is that the Parks & Recreation Commission does not receive 1 penny of taxpayer money -- and so far has funded ALL of its work with donations from members and from other residents.
