Quoted from GrahamBonnet
If challenged they have this saying that they put in the closet and dust off for such occasions- "We don't cover the process of government."

The Gazetto doesn't cover ANYTHING. They pull faxes sent by Metrograft/DSIC/Proctor's and rename it "news". The TU is better but they don't have beat reporter for Rotterdam. Rotterdam gives them a headache. Justin is great but he has to deal with his leaders.

The Gazetto should start making endorsements on the editorial page and stop weaving it into alleged news. They have had a huge role in the collapse of any checks and balances/two party system. The cheer leading for Death Ray/DSIC/Downtown borders on insanity. The towns will improve but the County still looks grim.

I am surprised no one has anything to say about the  rather lengthly report on the "State of the Environment"
in Rotterdam.

OK...Let me get this straight: Del Gallo and Godlewski set the vote. DiLeva says 'I've got a speech to give and I'll be late,' so they say they'll slow the meeting down as much as they can, but will proceed. The meeting goes on for a FULL HOUR before the vote. Calder doesn't vote, leaving THREE board members there to cast it. DiLeva doesn't show up during or even an hour after the vote, despite there being a whole gathering of media at the RJ firehouse well after the vote(probably a good 20 minutes after) where she could have openly and easily vented her greivance. Yet she didn't. She NEVER showed up. Period. Now those are FACTS, all indisputable.

So let's play revisionist history here. Say DiLeva DOES show up and casts her vote. What changes? Or rather what COULD change? DiLeva lambastes REMS for being dishonest in a firehouse filled with REMS supporters. That's it.

Back to Wednesday's meeting. DiLeva makes a beef about the vote. Then it comes out(by her own admission at the meeting) that her big speaking engagement was in front of a group of middle schoolers from her own school...the principal speaking to her students....Yet there was positively no way she could get out of it? Or maybe change the time? Moving on...She says FDG and Godlewski purposely rushed through the meeting to prevent her from voting...despite them waiting a full hour before the vote? Quick question: If you want to keep her from voting, wouldn't you switch things around to have the long, prattling BOA presentation at the end of the agenda?!?

Ok...now DiLeva claims FDG promised her he'd recess, when in fact, all he promised was to do the vote toward the end of the meeting...as it was scheduled on the agenda. BUT EVEN IF HE DID, IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE!!

Enter KR, who at the minimum, was speaking very caustically toward FDG, a guy being too much of a dolt to realize he's chairing the meeting and should call KR out of order(which, having watched the video, she clearly was). Godlewski, who is clearly seething, simply wants KR arrested, but is too enraged to realize that RPD will never get there in time to grab her and even if they did, they'd only escort her from the building as she broke no law.

RPD, meanwhile, gets a call that there's a disturbance at town hall, and aside from having nothing in particular to do(and being over-staffed for a weeknight), pulls out all the stops. After all, who knows what the disturbance is? Could be a craze citizen waiving around a weapon...you never know...

Then predictably, everything blows over. Nothing changes. DiLeva gets the point she should have made at the RJ firehouse out, even though she could have made that point at any other time during the two weeks prior. The Spotlight writes about this whole $hitshow as if it actually meant something(it didn't) and you people are proud of that? Man, I'm EMBARRASSED that type of all-around behavior made the paper. That article makes EVERYONE look bad, especially the town itself...a place that allows an absentee clerk collect $70,000-plus each year...pays a confidential secretary $52,000(let's not forget about DM's comp time too...someone should ask that question)...pays more than $6 million ANNUALLY to the cops...a no-show chief who makes in excess of $130,000...and a bunch of lieutenants making close to six figures in a 45-member department that has time to send four cars to town hall on a Wednesday night?

Laughable. Simply laughable. But you're right. I'm sure the spotlight will get a Pulitzer for it.

Hack, your assessment, opinion and perception is correct. However, the spotlight reported the FACTS! No spin, no opinion, just the facts on what actually occurred at a rotterdam town board meeting.

Laughable? Perhaps. But the spotlight reported a laughable rotterdam town board meeting and did so 'spot on'! No pun intended.

The article by the spotlight is just a reflection of what rotterdam has become under the democon rule! LAUGHABLE!! Gotta give them credit for capturing the moment!!

If you want to "get this straight"...read the following...your only accurate statement where the meetings of reference are concerned
is confirmation that I did nothing illegal...I was "escorted" nowhere because there was no legal basis to do so...in or out of the building.
If anyone needed to be "escorted" it was the Defect who attempted to tamper with Town property in the course of acting fully out of
order...in more ways than one, I might add...as she is usually "out of order"...if you know what I mean.

ND was righfully frustrated with the Board when she found out at the agenda meeting before that Town meeting that they had
scheduled the ems vote on a date they knew a month in advance she would be absent and specifically requested that the ems vote
not be scheduled for that meeting...to which they agreed...and she repeated all of this in front of the entire Town Board (not one
denied this previous discussion), two reporters and myself....all of whom were present when they agreed to wait for her when she said
she would get there ASAP...even requesting that the police not intervene in the event excessive speed was involved...Godlewski even
said "we might even be able to arrange for an escort"....that jerk.

She had a prior commitment she did not organize or schedule and was therefore in no position to change it....especially at the last
minute...and it obviously involved many others who were planning to attend on the announced date, and likely other factors such as
availability of the venue...the understandable impossibility of changing everything at the last minute...while her notice well in advance
would have easily allowed the Board to schedule the ems vote when she would be there...like at the next Town meeting after the
APRIL 6 deadline for the proposals...but FDG and the bandits kept putting it off...claiming they "hadn't had a chance to read them
yet"...and conveniently didn't get around to doing so through the NEXT TWO meetings...knowing all the while she wouldn't be at the
first May meeting....after such a long, intentional delay...they could have just waited until the next meeting. There is no question that
this was all by design...to avoid her explanation of why she would have said no to REMS knowing it would have made them look like
the obviously irresponsible "hacks" that they are....all at the expense of the Town REMS ripped off.

So the fact that the results would not have changed with ND's vote is not the point...it is the intentional exclusion of her participation
through deceitful means...to hide their own dishonesty with the residents.

Everything I said at the meeting was true...FDG is a MAJOR liar...he told me himself the day before that meeting that not only would
he start the meeting late...he told me 7:15...but that he would recess if necessary. When I arrived at 6:45 they were all sitting
at the front table just waiting for the clock to strike 7pm. Highly suspicious at this point I reminded FDG of his promise the day before
and he literally tried to silence me right there...I knew right then...this was all a fix....just as I had suggested in my dicussion with him
the day before...which is why he agreed to wait...to hide this obvious fact until the last possible second.

ND was on her way to that meeting when Diane Marco called...and told her not to bother because the entire meeting was over.

So contrary to your claims on this...your statements are not indisputable at all...they are in fact highly disputable...the facts discredit
your misinformed claims.

On my statements...

Label them any way you like...I define it as calling a spade a spade. If the highly agitated Godlewski thought the police wouldn't
get there "in time" to do nothing...as there was nothing they could do...he wouldn't have called them...he was only desperately
trying to stop being confronted WITH THEIR OWN STATEMENTS...including his own, and my opinion of the results based on his
statements.

I will, however, give you this much...you are right about the unrelated subject of other Town employees and/or elected officials that
you mentioned.

The Spotlight put it out there because they don't have the gravy train (like the Gazette does)
from the Town of Rotterdam for the legal notices and such which cost the taxpayers a small
fortune to publish.

Since no one else has brought it up --- I think the "State of the Environment Report" was waaaaay tooooo long ....   and while I believe there is some naturally occurring cycle of climate change occurring -- I do NOT believe that the presenters really proved their case about "global warming."

As an example --- the chart showing annual temperatures and precipitation since 1810  ---- clearly showed that the  our climate was COOLER and DRIER  for several extended periods of time since 1810 --- ironically those times come right after major volcanic activity someplace in the globe  (and in my opinion volcanoes impact climate a hell of a lot more than human activity).      Looking at the chart - I saw no convincing evidence that we are experiencing anything more than  the normal cycle of climate change.

Another point ---   they claim that global warming caused Schenectady County to have many fewer  "grassland birds"  --- but shouldn't we look at a more obvious cause  ---  there is LESS grassland in Schenectady County today than 200 or 100 or even 50 years ago ... and less woodlands .. less farms .. etc.     Look at the obvious causes first .. don't jump to some far-fetched conclusion.

Finally --- they made the comment that climate change was bad -- that longer growing seasons were bad --  THEY ARE ???     ..  personally, I think climate change has a number of benefits ..  why 10,000 years ago this area was under a pile of glacial ice --- i would say that Schenectady County is a hell of lot better off without all that glacial ice.

My money is on KR.  Buchanan if you are out there--stop being such a dolt and sign her up to run for office.  She can only give credibility to your dead-a$$ party.  On the other hand, if you are not Head of the party, disregard my remarks.  You keep wasting golden opportunities.  I would vote for KR and I am a die-hard Democrat. She is spot-on MOST of the time.

Police dialed when resident becomes vocal at Town Board meeting

The Rotterdam Town Board meeting on Wednesday, May 25, ended with flashing lights outside Town Hall.

As the meeting was nearing an end, Deputy Supervisor Robert Godlewski called town police to intervene after resident Kelly Rhinesmith called Supervisor Frank Del Gallo a “colossal liar” during the privilege of the floor and continued to make accusatory statements toward individual board members. Del Gallo told Rhinesmith to leave, at which point, Godlewski walked off to make the call. The incident lasted only about three minutes from Rhinesmith’s initial remark until she stopped talking. Police arrived after the meeting concluded, and no charges were filed.

When Rhinesmith confronted Del Gallo, Godlewski told him she was “out of order with those type of comments” and urged him to call the meeting back to order. Godlewski then told Rhinesmith the board didn’t have to listen to her “rude comments.”

Rhinesmith’s outburst was prompted by the Town Board’s handling of the ambulance service contract vote on Wednesday, May 11. She said Del Gallo did not follow through on a promise to wait for Nicola DiLeva before voting to award Rotterdam Emergency Medical Services the contract. However, the 3-0 vote in support of REMS would have remained unchanged no matter how DiLeva voted.

Two minutes into Rhinesmith’s comments, some board members started to talk among themselves about how to resolve the situation. She continued to address the board as Godlewski left the room to call the police.

Before Godlewski returned, DiLeva requested to adjourn the meeting, at which point Rhinesmith stopped addressing the board. Shortly after DiLeva’s request, and as Godlewski was returning to his seat, the meeting ended.

“She was asked to leave and she left, no charges were filed,” said Lt. Jason Murphy on Thursday, May 26.

A total of four police cars responded to the call, arriving shortly after residents started leaving Town Hall. Rhinesmith did approach police and talk to them before driving off the property.

After the meeting, Rhinesmith said no responding officers asked her to leave the meeting or public parking lot outside of Town Hall, and she left on her own will.

“I left on my own volition, but I was under no obligation to leave unless I did something illegal, which I did not, and confronting board members with their own statements doesn’t count. The police therefore had no legal grounds to force my departure, and I’m sure they understand this, just as I do,” said Rhinesmith Friday, May 27.

Town Attorney David Devaprasad said there are not many options for the board to pursue in such instances, but he noted residents are allotted four minutes to speak.

“Generally speaking, there is not a lot you can do,” said Devaprasad. “If at that point, if you don’t want to listen and they keep going, you can have the person removed from the meeting.”

Devaprasad said Godlewski calling the police was an effort to restore order to the forum.

“There is a certain amount of respect that goes into any forum,” said Devaprasad.

Del Gallo said after the meeting that he did not think it was necessary to call the police.

“I think you just let them blow their steam off,” said Del Gallo. “She is entitled to answers. … You can say the same thing without getting way out of line.”

Del Gallo said the reason DiLeva was not part of the EMS vote was because the May 11 meeting started late and the resolution for the vote was at the end of the agenda. During the May 25 meeting, Del Gallo said DiLeva should have put in writing that she wouldn’t be able to attend the meeting until later due to a prior engagement. DiLeva had notified the board that she had a prior engagement on May 11.

“We are not responsible for each other’s schedule and timing,” said Town Board member Matthew Martin in response to public comments at the May 25 meeting.

DiLeva said she rushed through her engagement, where she made remarks, and was on her way to take part in the ambulance vote, but Diane Marco called her shortly before 8 p.m. to tell her the vote was done.

“I never heard (DiLeva) tell me she couldn’t make it that night,” said Del Gallo, which spurred Rhinesmith’s comments.

DiLeva said she was not happy police were called.

“I just think it is a very sad situation,” said DiLeva. “I was very disturbed; it is still disturbing.”

She also said Del Gallo wasn’t truthful about claiming she never told him she had a prior engagement ahead of time, however Rhinesmith shouldn’t have called Del Gallo a colossal liar at the meeting.

“I’m sorry, he did lie,” said DiLeva after the meeting.

Listen Mr. Buchanan--you are a little boy dressed up in big boy pants.  If you want to be big time, stop acting like such a fool in politics.  Your choices, when you make them, are not smart.  You have submarined your party.  Get your head out of your butt and start acting intelligently.  Maybe KR is too vocal for you but she could win any debate your party would enter.  She would be an excellent choice despite the fact that she is right of Atilla the Hun.  In fact, I don't know a Schenectady Dem who could take her on...Albany absolutely but not in Schenectady.

And btw, that would be Ms. Riitano to you Tommy boy--I am old enough to be your mother and if I were, I would be demanding my money back from the law school I sent you to.

Shape UP and smarten up.

This is an interesting version of comments on the Town meeting caper...

I spoke with Purcell and he confirmed receipt of my response and quotes forwarded to him from the Editor...just yesterday, the full quote was included
in the online version of this story...it in fact specifically stated that the quote was received in an email responding to the matter...and it included the
stated fact that none of the responding officers that night ever asked me to leave.

So I really don't know why Lt. Murphy told Purcell I was asked to leave...or why he would state that no charges were filed when there were no grounds
for any charges.

I think this is important on a couple of levels....

It could lead residents to believe that they should fear police intervention when speaking freely at these meetings and therefore inhibit their willingness
to address the Board...especially when it involves statements to which they are unlikely to be receptive...and generally they are not receptive to being
confronted with their own lies...or actions that contradict their own self confirmed statements, as was the case with BG and MM.

I also think it could set a dangerously false precedent...that Board members might adopt an unspoken policy of summoning a fleet of police officers
to avoid or stifle self inflicted confrontations invloving their own misdeeds.

I also explained this in my conversation with Purcell.

I can't speak for anyone but with regard to your post Bumble on BQ--look at the facts--the Dems are slipping but Buchanan sunk your party.  You guys and/or Buchanan have an incredible knack for selectinglosers and know-nothings.  Look at Mertz, and brad stubblefield --NNTP got the Dems elected.  Thank you.  Now you want to run McGarry--a waste of time.  I agree try KR she knows her stuff and if she loses it's because the people just don't want her brand fo thinking and right wing effort.  But she's the best you have to offer and the Dems would beat her too.  Perhaps Boomer can give more info re: Quail and his efforts or lack thereof.
