The media covers NEWS! If Ron Paul was in the top two with approval close to the other contenders, he would get the attention. Cain had little news coverage, accept as an "also ran", until he jumped ahead in the polls or a very close second in several states. If Paul were leading in Florida, or with in a few percentage points... he'd be big news on all the networks. (Except Fox)

And why did Cain jump ahead, oh that's right because the MEDIA played up his one straw poll win in Florida. All we heard after that win is how Cain will rise now and how important this straw poll was. If Paul won it it would have been ignored as usual or played down and you know it.

Obama had less favorable coverage not less coverage overall, this is due to his policies and well probably FOX news. The media today is more guided by personal beliefs and party politics then laying out the facts or fair coverage. A news story can break and you will get 2 completely different stories by switching stations, so obviously one is lying or they're both propaganda to play towards the 2 party system. John Stewart who is left leaning saw through what they were doing to Paul and called them out on it, even though he is just a comedian many people take him more serious then the real news channels and I see why.

For Paul, the relative absence of coverage seems not to have interfered with his ability to get his libertarian message out to supporters. That's even more true for Herman Cain, who was one of the least-covered candidates but who has shot to the top of some recent polls nevertheless.
According to Pew Research, Cain shot to the top tier even though he had less media coverage than Ron Paul. Media bias is no excuse.
All this coverage, and the debates are irrelevant except to Republicans who can vote in the primary.

A new Rasmussen survey of likely Iowa caucus-goers shows: Herman Cain 28% Mitt Romney at 21%, Ron Paul at 10%, Newt Gingrich at 9%, Michelle Bachmann at 8%, and Rick Perry at 7%.

I saw the same poll on CBS this morning. In talking about the poll, they mentioned every candidate by name, except Paul. I am not necessarily a Paul supporter, but it's obvious the press is consciously ignoring Paul.
As for Perry, he needs to win Iowa. If Romney wins, its game over. NH and NV are next, almost certain Romney victories.
