As all Americans know, the founding fathers were mostly Christian.  So Christian thinking would undoubtedly influence their document.
But
The fact that they specifically don't mention God, or Christians and go out of their way to guarantee that no one religion is promoted by the US Government, shows that they meant to insure that the USA to be a multi religious country, with freedom of religion one of our founding values.


It guarantees freedom OF religion...not freedom FROM religion.....and clearly infers that liberty is granted by a higher authorty than
the "State" that you so worship. The only religions promoted by the government is everything but Christianity...conveniently
interpreting the Constitution to exclude Christian religious symbols from the public square....another reminder of the Christian
principles that motivated the authors of our Constitution that you and your liberal friends so loathe.

I am a Christian, but I don't inflict my religious beliefs on others.  Any government supported religion is an attack on all religions, regardless of the religion it's promoting.

The founding fathers were very specific... NO GOVT RELIGION!  Even OURS!
Many had lived with the church/govt blends of Europe and wanted no part of Religion in Govt.

The US Constitution guarantees a freedom to practice your religion... and to practice NO RELIGION if you desire, and it guarantees a FREEDOM FROM GOVT SUPPORTED RELIGION.

I am just as offended by a Govt sponsored religious event if it's Christian, Muslim, Buddhist or whatever... Any Govt sponsored Religion is an offense against the Constitution and a threat to all Religious Freedom.

CNN, FOX news both ignore their own polls to try to persuade Paul isn't a serious candidate. This disinfo campaign against Paul is sickening to say the least. >

Here is CNN ignoring their own poll for one that only had 54 total votes, if that isn't bad enough the poll was done by the National Journal, need I say more.


Here is CNN's poll along with CNBC's , Fox News and others, notice the amount of votes cast in total and for Paul, now why would CNN and FOX ignore their own polls if they didn't have a agenda and for a poll that only obtained 54 votes.

That's the illogical leap of faith that libs LOVE to take.

A Manger scene at town hall during the Christmas Season is NOT A LAW ESTABLISHING A RELIGION.  

A cross on public property for a road side vigil is NOT A LAW ESTABLISHING A RELIGION.  

Allowing people to use lands that are public domain to display religious symbols is NOT A LAW ESTABLISHING A RELIGION.

OK, you do know that a click on poll on a website is NOT a valid poll Right???

If the Gazette or CNN or Fox News, offers a click on vote, especially when a voter can cast repeated votes, the results are not indicative of anything... certainly not a scientific poll like Gallup, Pew, or Rasmussen.

A poll with a total of 3828 votes on a site that probably had several millions visits is ... Laughable!

Polls are an indication of the countries views at the time the poll is taken... depending on it's targets (Republicans, Democrats, Likely Voters, Heads of households) the results can be quite accurate.
The polls you site are not even among Republicans... the targets of the Republican Primary.

Why I won't vote for Ron Paul
Besides being against the Civil Rights act of '64, this would seem to be a reason many Americans won't vote for Paul.

In a recent speech Ron Paul said:
And he used his speech to tout civil liberties and family values, declaring that "rights and liberties come from your God, not your government. "

My rights and liberties come from the US Constitution... not from "Ron Paul's God" (or anyone else's God).  
The US Constitution is a known document... Ron Paul's God is what ever someone interprets it to be at the time. Some priest, a bishop, a pope... is not the source or benefactor of my Rights & Liberties.
If I'm an atheist, according to Ron Paul's statement, I have no rights or liberties since I have no God.

Possibly Paul was again attempting to court the Religious Right into his camp with these remarks.  But gave others a reason not to vote for him.

No your rights do not come from the Constitution, the Constitution never gave us rights, it simply explained what rights we do have just by being born. If the Constitution was burned tomorrow are you saying we now have no rights, sorry but you are a fool if you believe a document has power over our rights and our founders knew the dangers of giving control of our natural rights over to a government. I'm amazed you even wrote such a stupid comment

As far as being an atheist goes that is a persons right, you have the right to worship a cup of coffee if that is what you want. You just don't have the right to force me or others to worship what you see fit. The problem today is people believe that have the right to force their morals onto the rest of us and I think that is the camp you are in. Smoking is bad in your eyes so people should be forced to quit, unhealthy eating habits is bad so we must force them to eat better etc.

That is a pathetically sad statement.  A piece of paper written by men doesn't give you rights.  It outlines a governing system that keeps the government from infringing on those rights that were given at birth.  

Maybe Americans needs to write another Declaration of Independence to Congress reiterating the notion that our liberties are endowed by our creator, not our legislators.

I think the communist manifesto gives Box his rights.

You're right, the Constitution doesn't give any rights... except for those that are actually written into it.  The fact is that the Constitution is more of a limitation on government instead of granting of rights.  

I will, however, now refer you to another document, yes, a known document, that maybe you can believe.  How about the Declaration of Independence?  I don't mean any new Declaration, I mean the one from 1776.

1. My camp believes in choice.  The FREEDOM to worship any religion I want AND NOT TO BE FORCED TO SUBSIDIZE ANY RELIGION.  Freedom of religion is, if you so chose, freedom FROM religion.

2. The Camp I am in believes in Choice in reproductive rights.

I don't want to FORCE anyone to carry out a pregnancy against their will, unlike the Right Wingers on this board.
I don't want any religion involved in government,unlike some Right Wingers on this board.  I am just as offended with a Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist...etc religious event which is tax payer funded or supported in any way.  Including a Christian Cross on a city hall building.

MY RIGHTS COME FROM THE US CONSTITUTION.  With out it, a law can be enacted, by a vote in congress, that says "THE USA IS A CHRISTIAN NATION."  The 1st amendment gives me the RIGHT to worship as I please.  Don't believe me?  Go to a Muslim country and test out YOUR GOD GIVEN RIGHTS.  God will let you down... the US Constitution won't.  IF a majority Muslim community declares that their city is now Muslim only... Ask God about your rights.  God will ignore your lost freedom of religion... the US Constitution won't.

IF the Constitution was burned tomorrow... I would have no right to Bear Arms as guaranteed in the 2nd amendment.  Congress could pass a law banning all guns... God won't stop them... but the US Constitution will.
