Really Cicero???  You really think that Cuba is a "developed country"???  Really???

(Someone give the man an encyclopedia, apparently google doesn't work for him)

Kofi Annan, former Secretary General of the United Nations, defined a developed country as follows: "A developed country is one that allows all its citizens to enjoy a free and healthy life in a safe environment."

Please list the "developed" countries of the world.  Obviously, by yours and Kofi Annan's standard, the U.S. isn't developed since we don't have socialized medicine, providing a "free and healthy life".

Kofi Annan is entitled to his own opinion.

There are several criteria to call a country "developed"... here are several of them but Cuba appears on none.

Here we have government cutting medicaid (which affects low income as well as affects people who worked, sacrificed and saved, but then have to sell of everything to pay the nursing home and then medicaid kicks in).  Then cutting medicare.  And greedy company higher ups get paid millions while eliminating health insurance for retirees especially.

How are people supposed to pay for health care?  Are we supposed to live on the streets and pay the medical bills?   Or are we supposed to pay our living expenses and forget going to the doctor.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

That's a good question MikeChris.
Health Care Reform is the beginning, and hopefully if it doesn't get watered down any more, may be the answer to your question.

Left to the TeaParty and the Republicans, Health Care will soon be a luxury that only the Rich can afford.

Health care should be number 1.. it should be before a new car, cable tv, a cell phone, or internet access.
The Dems have been giving their false line for years... its time to pay the piper.
Cut ALL of the Pentagon budget today and we are STILL in a world of hurt.
We have too many on the public teet, and not enough workers to pay for it.
SS was NEVER supposed to be the main source of retirement income, but the Dems convinced you it should be.
And because of this mess, people that actually sacrificed some of todays luxuries for a retirement tomorrow are going to get boned by the gov't because they will deemed "not to need" SS even though they have been contributing to it since they started work. And they say the Dems are for the middle class, they are for the next election cycle.

MC1....I thought you were smarter than this!!!! REALLY!!!

First, and although I don't agree with all of the loop holes for billion dollar corporations, I also realize that these billion dollar companies provide private health care for their employees.

Second, there is always medicaid. For example.....I work with a few 'young adults' who refuses to pay for health care that the employer pays 75% of. One gets in an auto accident, goes to the hospital, tells them he has no insurance, they hand him a medicaid form, they help him fill it out and BINGO...it's paid for!!!!

NYS has many government forms of health care for the 'lower income' folks.

And in case you haven't noticed, the seniors of today have paid into medicare ALL OF THEIR WORKING LIVES, and are still paying $96/mo out of their ss check. PLUS....they must pay for a supplemental health care policy!!! How's that working for ya? It ain't. Medicare needs reform!!

MC1...don't ever leave NYS! It is the best in the country for tax paid government hand out programs!!
Makes ya wonder why so many are leaving the state, huh?

You can't argue with people that do not have the basic understanding of supply and demand.  I guess the medical industry won't adjust if there aren't checks signed by the U.S. Government. Markets aren't static, supply adjusts to demand.  If the money isn't there but the demand is, guess what, costs will go down.  Putting money back into individual’s hands and de-centralizing it wouldn't change the supply of money, just where it comes from.  GDP is a reflection of a nations wealth, and printing money and taxation doesn't increase wealth.

These social systems are BROKE and insolvent.  It amazes my how people can't understand that.

the millionaires only pay SS up to a certain level.....then they are on their own....so because they decided to make it their priority to 'collect $' for THEIR
OWN future/life we think they should have a shake down for the rest????

I'll tell you what...I'm coming to YOUR house and seeing all that you have that I dont have and I'm going crying to the government to get what you
have into my life....and they will make you....

as for tossing grandma out of the wheelchair.....plllllleeeease......the only way grandma gets tossed is by folks who bought into the "only medical
people can be caretakers, the government told me so." ......as for the meds and crap....I have a bunch of examples of 'very old(90-100year) sick
elders' who were taken off their meds and began to eat/drink and become more alert......

times have changed and the traditional caretaking roles are GONE....women are no longer the cheap labor for caretaking and dont do it because they
dont have to.....however, the consequence is the cost of paying someone else to do it......you cant afford me and I'm not a machine.....

do it yourself or get out of the way

aging isn't new, it's insidious and Dennis Hopper is delusional

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
