res 111.11

2 months into the year and this dude sucked up $10K of our money

if this attorney was worth his salt maybe he would tell FDG the comptroller handles HR issues

and the supervisor is just one vote on the board in a first class town

Tippy.....if rotterdam wants to clean itself up, turn things around and get rid of the corruption, you can be that it will take a ton of legal money!!! The 'old time rotterdamians' way of doing business will not go down without a fight!! Just look at the EE issue!! Nobody does nothin'!! It's shameful!! And people actually wonder why rotterdam is the laughing stock!!

Rotterdam needs elected officials that aren't there to win a popularity contest or line their pockets for favors.

Rotterdam needs more citizens who want the corruption to end

and they can do that with their vote

and by attending town and county meetings

demand officials who don't request FOILs for every govt record

just look at the EE issue

word on the street is that handicapped permitts without current medical documentation exist

a citizen FOILs the handicapped permits issued for no medical reason

the press FOILs the citizen request

and some of the alleged permit numbers show up here

the foils are denied because they are medical records

the big problem is they are gov't records without medical records

thus they are not protected documents

on top of that on the application there is a statement holding a permit without medical reason is a state crime

and you are right it is a two sided street but the solution must start somewhere

this town needs more people who ask the hard questions and dont give up

like the racetrack - a state trooper is required by state law to uphold all town laws - this is not a code enforcer issue
like loud exhausts - a state trooper can write this ticket as well
all laws are in the same book in this town

zoning falls into the same pot
dont give up and stand your ground
the laws are on the side of the citizen

the people  need to educate themselves and understand the town code(laws) and state laws that the current admin chooses to ignore because no one will say anything on the subject

money is need not for campaign races for signs but education or fighting the wrongs the some town residents feel they can get away with

But... is it appropriate that our elected officials continuously break the law without impunity while the residents are required to incur legal costs to right these injustices?   ?What kind of government is that?

What kind of government is that?  Corrupt!!!  They have a public hearing, but refuse to listen to the public.  Decisions already made, answers rehearsed.  It's the emperor's new clothes.  As long as Bob Godlewski has his phony smile on his face we are supposed to go along with the mugging.  How do some of these people live with themselves.  Very sad.

You are kidding right?
This happens at all levels of government....from the top on down!!
We are a land of laws. The laws were made by lawyers. Lawyers are the government. Who gets $$$ when they break the law? ANOTHER LAWYER!!!!!

However.....the 'collective power of the people' can and do make a difference.
Sign petitions.
Dig for the facts.
Go to all government meetings.
Speak your concerns.
Send emails, snail mail.
Run for office.
Support your candidate.
Start citizen action committees/meetings
............VOTE THEM OUT!!!

I agree that BG should have never been voted  in for the rotterdam tb. But the fact is....he is there. But none of them should be on that board. It was a fiasco from day ONE!!! And it still continues!

All FIVE need to go when their next election cycle is up!!

What St. Augustine had to say about what we now call government:

"A gang is a group of men under the command of a leader, bound by a compact of association, in which the plunder is divided according to an agreed convention. If this villainy wins so many recruits from the ranks of the demoralized that it acquires territory, establishes a base, captures cities and subdues peoples, it then openly arrogates to itself the title of kingdom, which is conferred on it in the eyes of the world, not by the renunciation of aggression, but by the attainment of impunity"

Your Choices in the Political arena: Indeed, the plunder has become so common, and the plunderers so smug and self-confident, that their predations are taken for granted, and the thieves themselves treated with extraordinary deference! It is something akin to the Stockholm syndrome. You encounter the same mugger at the same spot every day, and eventually establish a sort of bizarre relationship with him----even, eventually, thanking him for not taking more. When you are given the opportunity to replace him with another mugger, you vote for the incumbent---sticking with the devil you know, unless his opponent offers to share more of his loot with you.
Paul Hein 10-19-2010

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

imagine 40 residents speaking for 4 min. each at the next board meeting

do this at enough meetings and maybe we will get our moneys worth from our lame a** town board

it would be hard to sit there but the look on FDG's face would be priceless

keep up the good work FDG

You mean more priceless than it looks now?  Confused, mouth agape, St. Bernard-like?
He doesn't have a sippy cup big enough to hold the drool that would be forming if all of
those people got up to speak.  He would need a bucket. He is useless anyway......
