Just heard scuttlebut that Ron Severson may be itching to be the new director of the Senior Center.

Pure rumor at this point, I haven't heard this from more than one person so far.

Even I haven't heard this rumor.  I can assure you it if false.

DM is going to give up one of her 10 public jobs/posts? Get real. She will hold all the cards until November. Then all bets are off.

What happened to the "don't need to know nothing" 2nd deputy job and the Parks and Rec job....doesn't he hold any of those positions still?

Nah.........that would never happen. Not that it would matter. Like said before.....the rotterdam center is a no big whoop! It's not like it's Glenville. I hear that there are many 'baby boomers' that are going to the Glenville center.

I don't have a "parks and rec job" --- I am an unpaid member of the Parks and Recreation Commission.  
I was second Deputy Town Clerk -- unpaid -- just long enough to fill in for the First Deputy Town Clerk at the Town Board meeting that was held during her honeymoon.

Again I tell you--seniors don't want a babysitter they want leadership.  "Boomers" are not going to Glenville.  "Boomers" aren't going to ANY senior centers.  None of the traditional centers respond to the needs of Boomers.  Rotterdam needs to begin to look at being a livable community for the senior population.  Though no State money available for a NNORC, they need to research options to gain the funds  necessary for a "nnorc-like/village like" senior environment.

You need someone with REAL experience and education and although living with one's elderly aunts is a special kind of experience it is not what is needed for current and upcoming senior population.

Well I found the following article in Spotlightnews.com "May 13, 2010 ... Ron Severson, Chairman of the Rotterdam Parks and Recreation Commission, presented a comprehensive 10-year plan..." so it lead me to believe you were more than a member...sorry if I was mistaken.

Not him - he only wears glasses when driving.

That's a picture of Ron Severson, I believe.  Not sure who "DemocraticVoiceOfReason" really is.

I am the chairman and a member of the commission --- neither of which is a paid position.
