23.11 Authorize the Supervisor to execute an agreement with Susan M. Lombardi on
behalf of Community Development Resources, LLC, to provide grant application
assistance
at a rate not to exceed $85.00 per hour, on an as-needed basis for the
year 2011.

I thought this is what the rotterdam's 'confidential secretary' was paid $50K for last year......no?
Wasn't she the one who had all the connections and was a great grant writer? Correct me if I'm wrong.

10.11 Re-appoint Marjorie Schmid of Rotterdam, New York as a member of the
Rotterdam Conservation Advisory Council for a two (2) year term, with no
compensation or benefits, commencing January 1, 2011 and terminating
December 31, 2013.

I thought Marjorie wrote a Letter to the Editor in the Gazette earlier this year and she indicated that when offered this position, she turned it down.  The offer came from the Supervisor personally and he promised to name the proposed Rotterdam Junction park after her if she agreed to be a proponent of the project.   In the past, Marjorie has been an environmental advocate and opposed the park...so what's with this appointment???  Is it wishful thinking on the Board's part??

You people support Marjorie Schmidt and are against EE.  You're more nuts than I thought.

boomer - So...YOU support giving $50,000 in salary to a woman who CLEARLY has some sort of mental capacity issue(cough...onset of Alzheimers and/or senility)? I don't know what is sadder...that her family is basically raping the town for 50k per year or that you're so blind you think that people upset about it are playing politics. This is CUT AND DRY: She does nothing, she should get nothing. At least Marjorie still lives in the town, has most of her faculties left AND gets "no compensation or benefits." Regressive thinking like yours is the reason why this town is mired in a hole and never coming out.

Marjorie Scmidt has never given anything to the town but a headache.  She is a bitter and critical woman who fancies herself as some sort of mentor.  Helen Quirini did circles around her as did Swannie Bonitatibus and EE.  You bet I would take EE any day over Marjorie Schmidt.  EE has more talent and political savvy in her little finger than Schmidt in her whole body.  What was her claim to fame...mentoring the likes of Tommasone and mertz--give me a break.  I am not saying that it isn't time for EE to retire because I feel it is time to bring in some new blood and begin to look to a younger generation to take hold of the reins.  Unfortunately we would need to look out of town to find the young people we need to carry on into the next decade.

mentoring Mertz ... is more a claim to  INFAMY  than a claim to fame

look out of town???
if party was left out
the best suited would rise to the top
but party always gets in the way --- for nothing

in rotterdam saying someone is a democrat and republican should be treated as racial slur or a hate crime

the behavior by some party members mimics racial behavior of the 1950's in the deep south

this should not be supported

I sure with Mr Cook being appointed to the ethics board all this will change

In rotterdam, that is how they live and breathe! They know no better!
Rotterdamians are defined by their politics. It clearly doesn't matter, and rightfully so, if you are christian or jew, black or white, man or woman, gay or straight, tall of short..........but ya better stay 'in the closet' when it comes to your political affiliation.

This position pays $300.00 a year.  Hardly bringing in a bundle.  Marjorie is a wealth of knowledge on this town's history and the geography of the Great Flats.  More seniors should be as concerned about the environment as she is.  She has great respect for the earth.  She has no regard for politicians and phonys.  She speaks her mind and always has. She's not a schmoozer of people.  She appears cranky to those that don't take the time to listen to her.  The previous administration did listen to her as did this one. She's not one that would ever want a park named after her.

John is better than Craig.  At least he grew up here and knows the street names.  He is not just looking at them on Google Earth.

He seemed to do ok in guilderland....yes? And he didn't grow up there nor knows the street names. So does that 'really' matter? I think not.

As far as comparing their personalities........they are identical. Surprise just wasn't part of the 'friends and family' club!

Again....life moves in one direction.....FORWARD!!! Except in rotterdam!
