the point is that many large businesses flourished, all at one time, WITHOUT SEWERS!  To suggest that lack of sewers is the reason why hamburg street is empty is ludicrous. The fact of the matter is that businesses do not want to come to rotterdam's sh!thole! THEY JUST DON'T!! The only businesses that will move into rotterdam will be ones that are offered some sort of lucrative taxpayer handout.

aka....rotterdam has to PAY businesses to move in!! It is what it is! Sewers are NOT the issue on hamburg st. Which only proves again that the recovery gin mill was to enhance the property value of the 'select few'.....no brainer here!

Businesses flourished without electric light bulbs, too ---- but that was before they were invented.

Get over your hatred for Rotterdam --- and understand that there are businesses that would have built
on Hamburg Street and, also,  out on Route 7 by Schalmont  that  chose not to because there were
no sewers.

The fact that you keep referring to Rotterdam with a derogatory manner undescores that you actually hate
the town and - as far as I am concerned - if you hate the town  ... you can pretty much go to hell .. because
your opinion doesn't matter to me or to others who love the town.

We all like the town too, and the county, but we know what's important.  Such as reducing crime, eliminating all the the decrepit housing in the city, dealing with sex offenders, and trying to eliminate armed robberies in broad daylight.

Businsses have can spend their own money.   How is taking money away from the financially struggling taxpayers going to insure that they have money to save their homes when their homes go into foreclosure due to them not paying their taxes?????   Come on DV, ANSWER THAT!

I would ask that someone provide verifiable proof of one business that seriously considered moving to or locating on Hamburg Steet that didn't do so becasue the lack of sewers was the main reason.  Let's stop with the generalities and provide something of substance......anyone? (and you know who I mean!)

Several nationally prominent firms have looked at the old Grand Union building and the site of the Bowling
Green Bowling Alley ... and walked away when they learned it did not have sewers.    People have looked at
the 5 undeveloped acres that Saint Adalbert's has for sale at the back of its cemetery and walked away when
they learned that it did not have access to sewers.

Those are the facts.

NO, those are generalities. I asked for the name of one business that could be verified that they would not move there because of the sewers....you obviously are blowing smoke once again becuase YOU CAN'T GIVE ANY VERIFIABLE INFORMATION....why am I not surprised!

I don't have to prove anything to you or any other person on this website.   It is the truth -- I know it .. those
who were involved know it ... that is all that matters.

Furthermore, national companies do not go blaring their future development intentions all over web sites.
All I can say is ... if sewers are ever built on Route 7 and on Hamburg Street ... they will reconsider those
sites for development.

He's right - I heard McDonald's was interested in opening a new shop - with McRib's as a featured item.

Actually, I can confirm that McDonald's was NOT one of the national companies.   None were fast food food
restaurants or any type of restaurant.

Now here is what doesn't make any sense whatsoever......There was a developer that was interested in the old grand union a few years ago for office space. 'Supposedly' they decided to take a pass on it. Reason....'supposedly' due to lack of sewers.

So let's get this straight.....That building housed large market chains successfully for 'how many years'? Did they move out because of 'no sewers'? NOPE! They moved out due to competition with price chopper that they couldn't compete with...not because of no sewers. In fact they closed most of their stores in NYS around the same time.

So are we being led to believe that an office building needs sewers to build and succeed more than a large market chain that uses, disposes of and flushes on a much larger scale??? WTF?

The area (rotterdam) is not a hot ticket item for businesses....FACT! The only way they would even think of setting up business in rotterdam (just like the city), is if they got a very lucrative tax incentive, at the taxpayer's expense, OR if they belonged to the 'friends and family club'!

Come on....it's obvious you make up everything and try to pass yourself off as "in the know" when you don't know squat. When challenged it's always the same thing...."I don't have to prove anything 'casue I know it's true...."

I don't know you or who you are.  I think I've read that you have either held office or run for office. With all the fabrications and BS you ae spewing, it wouldn't surprise me at all to find out you are a politician!

Rotterdam is a small gossipy town. You or anyone else is not privie to anything that others don't already know.....TRUST ME!!

One doesn't have to be 'involved' to know the goings on in rotterdam. This forum is proof enough of that!!

oh dont worry after the 'fee fight' between Rotterdam and the city for sewer use goes viral the Metroplex will ride in on it's taxpayer paid white
horse and pretend to save the day......
