The failure to put sewers on Hamburg Street is NOT  Mr. Del Gallo's fault.    Property owners  have voted down
efforts to install sewers on Hamburg Street in the past.    The property owners should then bear the
responsibility for the plight of Hamburg Street.   They said NO to sewers and potential businesses have said NOback to to them.

I believe there are many businesses and schools in rotterdam that are up and running without 'sewers'. hmmmmmm..........
The fact of the matter is that with the plex involved, they could have offered bbl a tax paid deal they couldn't refuse to move to hamburg st.
The fact of the matter is that this was strategically placed to benefit the 'surrounding' businesses.

There are MANY businesses that have looked at locating on Hamburg Street and have walked away once
they learn that there are no sewers.  I know of several nationally known businesses that were interested in
locating on Hamburg Street but were turned off by the lack of sewers.  

You really have to stop the "i hate Metroplex rant" and wake up and smell the coffee .. listen to people
who actually know what is going on.

DVOR - last time sewers were voted down was when??  if i recall it was when Time warner built there building off of 890

and why was it voted down???

Is the Golub warehouse on sewers?
Is Bradt school on sewers?

I also heard of several businesses (professional) that looked at the rotterdam location and thought the area looked like a sh!thole. Except for a walmart, dollar stores, gin mill and grocery stores...........it wasn't exactly what they had in mind. Perhaps there were some that had a 'sewer' issue............but come on............look at the businesses that are alive and well without them. I'm all for sewers....but there is life without them if you want something bad enough....no?

Who cares about sewers when you have a beautiful sparkling new governmental gin mill? The pride of the County. Who needs Downtown? You can tie one on closer to home. This screams "renaissance".

     Funded with RIDA funds because Metrograft is tapped out. Once you sit back in those unforgiving hard plastic Giants seats and tip back a few you can almost believe you are not in Schenectady County.

There have been a number of efforts to build sewers in different parts of the town over the years .. it
boils down to people don't want to pay for the sewers   BUT then they complain when businesses refuse
to build in Rotterdam because there are many areas without sewers.

Bottomline -- you get what you ask for  .. vote no for sewers .. you screw yourself when it comes to attracting
new business to town.

Actually, i believe that Golub has its own sewer system -- so YES they are on sewers.

I am aware of several businesses that wanted to develop in Rotterdam  and along Hamburg Street in
particular and also out by Schalmont HS  ---- Rotterdam was and still is a PRIME location to consider
for their business expansion ... but they will NOT build here because there are no sewers.

You can choose to live with your head stuck in your septic tank  ----  but  the reality is that Rotterdam will
not reach its full development potential without sewers.

          OK, (this is non poster specific or a critique), isn't the only substantive piece of property for development the old Grand Union?  Are posters saying that we need sewers for that parcel, or are there others with high value that can't be developed?  Isn't it crazy talk to consider sewers for one major parcel when the rest of the corridor is developed without this infrastructure?  In my mind, I'm just running through what businesses and development there is and what there sewer needs are.  Just asking . . . .

Hamburg street was a bustling little area of rotterdam with a large grocery chain, a flourishing ice cream store and a full bowling alley that are currently not there today.

It has been MORE than a decade since Grand Union closed and the bowling alley.   The fact is that there
has not been major new commercial construction on Hamburg Street in at least 30 years.  
Times have changed --  if we are to attract  good retail businesses and commercial offices .. we need
sewers .
