Pat Z calls it EXACTLY like it is! She's been around the block for a decade, so there isn't much that gets by her!

wow .. a whole decade ... BFD ... she is a legend in her own mind

Hello All,
I'm new here, been lurking while. Lifelong resident of Schenectady. So glad the Times Union is really doing some investigative research into the fiasco of city hall and downtown.

Did want to comment on this quote
Quoted Text
Pat Z proved once again that she is not worthy of respect.

I think Pat deserves alot of respect, she tells it like it is and without her we wouldn't know half of what is really going on in city government.

DV- I USED to attend St. Adalberts, my grandparents were parishioners until the day they died, my Mom attended St. Adalbert's School and was married there.  But sadly none of our family haven't been there in a long time. All due to the "priest" who has been there for many years, he is the one who is not worthy of respect. My Mom always wonders how he can stand on the altar and preach the word of God after all the misdeeds he has done : (

Anyways on the subject of Van Norden, I hope he didn't have a heart attack, in his own words looks like he didn't , but that is alot of leave to take on a scare !  Many people have bypass surgery or valve surgery and are back to work alot sooner than he was.

A very Blessed and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to All. Looking forward to a better New Year : )

Pat Z is the voice and advocate for the taxpayers. She always was. She lives in the city of schenectady and knows first hand theunwarrented burden these people are under.

She's been an advocate for the people for a decade. But now the only way she can make a substantial difference is to be on the other side of the rail. Electing her would be the first step in turning the city around and exposing the corruption. And I'm sure the already sitting leaders shutter at that thought!

As far as VanNorden, I wish him good health, but perhaps his sudden recovery and return to work is just an admission of guilt......perhaps?

When Pat Z started personal attacks on me and my family - she lost any respect that I had for her.
She basically shot off her mouth and attacked me .. assuming that I was opposed to her.
This seems to be typical of a certain gang that populates this website.

Ron, all I did was extend the "marshmellow" parable, an allegory that is supposed to extend an important lesson. Obviously it was either too simple for you, or too complex. If you are writing a book using this website as your medium, it would certainly be less than a B movie. I would give it an "F" not a "passing grade" as Roger Hull would give to Brian Stratton. (Is a D- passing? )

Anyway,  as is attributed to Woodie Guthrie, "any fool can make something complicated." This too is an analogy. You can look at it as another "personal attack" that I've made upon your person (and family if you so choose) or you can take the words at face value and accept or reject its reasoning.

You post a great deal of nonsense here Ron. It's really too bad because it truly dilutes the reasonable responses I've read here and if you've ever posted anything reasonable, its lost in the crap. I know that people can block you and I think you should be, but if this website gives you a sense of power that you don't believe you have otherwise, then so be it.

There are many instances of weirdos on the Internet. Mostly they are child abusers (or wannabees) but it can be a dangerous game. (by the way, this isn't me threatening you) I do know you and it isn't unheard of that I may see you some time in public. I'd really rather not have to start laughing my a$$ off when I do.

Gosh I'm new here and allready got a negative !?  DV I only spoke the truth, but as I am a firm believer in the Constitution regarding free speech.....

On the subject of City Hall earlier this year I had to call a certain office there to speak to the historian and was told by the lady that answered that he wasn't there, only shows up to get his paycheck, she said to try him at home. Sure enough got ahold of him. I did tell him what i was told from his office, he seemed like a nice enough fellow, but wonder just what was the truth there.

With the assumption that the RP in rpforpres is Ron Paul and based on my agreement with your postings,
I gave you a positive rating.

You assumed because I disagreed with you on one or two issues that I opposed you .. you and your
friends make all kinds of false statements about my positions, my family, etc.
The fact is that I  HAD respect for you until recently ... just like I have great respect for the work of  hard
working people-oriented public figures like  Joe Allen, Kathy Lewis and Barbara Strangfeld.    Quite frankly, a number of the professional local politicians of BOTH parties strike me as pompous asses.
I couldn't care less about party labels -- I support and vote for the person.
And I have posted a lot of reasonable things -- but because you and your gang are so blinded by venom
you folks twist and distort and make up more lies about what I had posted.

Bottomline about my views about the city and the county of Schenectady .. I am an optimist .. I believe that
we have "turned the ship around" ... but there is certainly a lot more work to be done .. the job isn't done ..
and will never really be completely done.     Is that "irrational cheerleading" .. no  .. it is choosing to view
things positively and working to make things better ...rather than always seeing things as doom and gloom.

I also have a tongue-in-cheek dry wit that doesn't translate as well in this medium.   Everyone needs a
sense of humor.  If we don't have one .. we go nuts.

I will say this - more for the one whose name I shall not speak - I will NOT tolerate the continued personal
attacks on members of my family.  That is completely uncalled for.

Finally, I will say this -- I am not a cronie of anyone  nor do I have any political aspirations.  I will work on
the campaigns of individuals whom I believe in.    I may write a check to the campaign of an individual to
whom  believe in.   And I will continue to work for a short list of projects that I would like to see
accomplished -- mainly having to do with Parks and Recreation in Rotterdam .. and others having to do
with my parish.   Other than that, I will speak my mind on any issue and I won't hold anything back or
worry about what others think.    I enjoy debating political issues and I have willingly offered my support
and advice to a number of persons locally  ... and will continue to do it as long as I can.

I believe in the Constitution and Free Speech, too.   Your comments about my pastor were not -IMHO -
appropriate and so I rated you as I felt.   The real world can be tough that way.

Pat - I assume you'll be filing a FOIL request to find out what the city is paying this individual and what his official hours are?

(One accusation does not the truth make...  However once we have that data, we could be reasonably certain that if we showed up at a certain time that their official hours covered, they would be there...)

(I doubt a city historian makes much money - probably a part time job, but if no real work is needed and being done, then the pay grade should fit the effort)

Don't expect any truth in the Gazetto. Luckily the Times Union is getting to the bottom of yet another DEM scandal. Another scathing expose be coming. All the DEMS do is screw the taxpayer, cover for each other and refuse to clean house. Then lie about "miracles". Here's the only miracle that these idiots are permitted to run for public office unopposed.

This is what happens when DEMS are allowed to run amok. Bravo to Roger Hull, NNTP and anyone else looking to break the DEM death grip on both our City and County.

... just like I have great respect for the work of  hard

I believe that we have "turned the ship around" ...
it is choosing to view
things positively and working to make things better

Other than that, I will speak my mind on any issue and I won't hold anything back .

Gee, is that the Joe Allen who retired from the state of NY with a very very generous health insurance plan at a very very small cost from his retirement check, yet instead of paying that little bit, he chooses to make the financially struggling people of the city provide him health insurance paid in full by the ctiy taxpayers, as a parttime council person.  Is that the same Joe Allen that choose to pay taxes late?  Is that the same Joe Allen voted to abolish the two tier tax system in the city and then a few years later (this past spring I believe) he is talking about the big time absentee landlords and saying that he's surprised that they pay the residential tax rate instead of the business tax rate (when they run a business)--is this the Joe Allen who forgot that he voted to abolish the business tax rate (which was higher than the residential, thus raising the taxes on the residential?

No one one earth would ever claim that raising taxes is turning a ship around.   Is creating more housing (at taxpayer expense) when there ia a record high number of EXISTING VACANT houses the thing to do to turn a ship around?   THe wild spending on downtown has only resulte in higher crime, higher taxes, and people fleeing the city.    Uncontrolled spending NEVER turns a ship around.  What responsible person, in debt, having financial problems in the household, decides to spend money like there's no tomorrow to "turn the ship around" at home - that only can lead to losing everything you own.  And we have seen with this president, inasmuch as I had hopes, but all the wild spending, the stimulus stuff, the handouts to buy houses and cars, etc has only resulted the debt reaching levels we probably never thought we would see in our lifetime, caused higher unemployment, and then the nerve to not give the elderly on fixed incomes a raise (again, stick it to the financially struggling people)

It's interesting that some people claim they will speak on anything, not hold anything back, but when asked if it's proper for financially struggling people to pay property taxes for millionaires, they won't speak and they hold back.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

MC1, there are more people now, that have taken their rose colored glasses off. (in part to your fact finding and others here as well) They have had enough!!!

For those who continue to wear those rose colored glasses and continue to cheerlead for the ones that have created the mess schenectady county is in, will be in for a surprise!!!!
