New website matches up people with things to barter

BY SARA FOSS Gazette Reporter

A Rotterdam couple has created a website that promotes the age-old practice of bartering — exchanging goods or services for other goods or services, rather than money.
“People don’t have the money they used to,” said Todd Rowe, one of the site’s creators. “But they might need stuff or want stuff.”
Called MyBarterLocal.com, the site allows users to create profi les where they list items they have to barter or things they want or need. Users can connect with one another and negotiate cashless trades. There will also be featured products, a blog, a Twitter feed and a Facebook page.
Angela Squadere, Rowe’s partner, said people understand the concept of bartering because they’ve been doing it forever.
“We’ve been bartering since we were kids,” Squadere said. “When you were playing Monopoly, you traded St. James Place for a railroad. At the lunchroom, you traded a cookie for an apple.”
The idea for the site began to percolate while she was jogging, Squadere, 39, said: “I thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be great if there was a place where I could say, ‘I’ve got this and I want that?’ ”
MyBarterLocal.com has been under development for about a year and will go live on Monday. ...............>>>>.......................>>>>...............http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01101&AppName=1

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

The state will go after anyone who barters their goods or services for another's goods or services to try to collect a sales tax that the state feels they were cheated out of but only if there's enough money to make it worth their effort.

The GOP will love a barter site ...   they are already so good at exchanging their public votes for campaign
contributions.
