Word out today is that if Angelo Santabarbara loses the election he will replace Mike Griesemer at Town Hall.  The new admin is bringing back a full time engineer as a way to cut costs and Griesemer has some ethical baggage that just won't go away.  Also new today is that someone has been approached to run the Highway Department as a Department and not an elected position.  Can they do this?  Something about the Town of Duanesburg is a test for this scenerio.  Dunno but things are getting juicy.

Hiring an engineer to approve projects in the town should have been done a long time ago.

I won't comment on any speculation about the Public Works item -- as for the one regarding the Highway
Department  .. the Town Board can only take up the matter of changing the Highway Superintendent from
an elected position to an appointed position with a window of 12 months before the elected term expires and
about 6 months before the election to fill that post.  So if any action were to happen in this regard it would
have to happen between  January 1, 2011 and the end of April 2011.

There are good arguments for and against such a move ... and for and against leaving it as it is.  And as
unusual as it may seem,  I don't have an opinion on the matter -- at this time.

So Santabarbara is quitting his Chazen job for a full time engineer job for the town of rotterdam? I find that hard to process since it would obviously be a political position and his employment would rest on what political party was in the majority.

If the Highway position is an elected position, and if the town of rotterdam wants to change it to an appointed position, it has to go up to the electorate for a vote first.

Dunno about quitting Bumblethru but say the salary in Rotterdam is $75,000 (what Griesemer is slated to make) and add on the $14,000 from the county.....$89,000.....about what he earns if he gets elected to the assembly.  Makes sense right?  Angelo was slated to get the engineering job before the "weasel" sold out to Steve so I'd say it is pretty reliable.  You have a vested interest Bumblethru?

Maybe he will cut the ties with Chazen over the tapes?  Maybe he wants to blame his departure on George if he loses, maybe he wants to be in the hub so he take another crack at GA in two years?  Maybe he likes the retirement system.  Maybe the politics won't matter if Gerard and the "family" wrest back control?  You have a vested interest don't you Bumblethru?
