Although it is possible, I don't see this as good business sense. Chazen would have then burned many bridges and placed all their eggs in one 'liberal socialist basket'. Smart businesses usually 'try' to stay politically neutral. They usually try to avoid these 'political sh!t storms'!....no?

Businesses do try to stay neutral, but leave it to Amedore to go to his "not announced yet oppoenents job, and threaten loss of work. Amedore himself
chose to do what he did and with that, made things worse for HIMSELF!  When Amedore was asked in the Spotlight, a couple weeks ago, did you ever have a conversation with Joe Lanaro regarding threatening Angelos job, HE SAID NO!!!

Well seeing, his actions only furthers dictate his character, he is shown to be a liar! He is shown to use dirty, nasty tactics to keep his position in office. Even after being found guilty of Unfair campaigning, Amedore still keeps  the post up  of what they found him guilty of on his website..

Just goes to show King George has no rules to go by, King George only cares about himself and his wallet!! Time to clean house, with these no good politicians who havent done anything FOR US THE TAXPAYERS!!!

Nov 2nd, VOTE THEM ALL OUT!!! Time to take a stand, Time to take back our Government, Time to show them just what us the TAXPAYERS who pay their salaries, have had enough of!!

The "liberal socialist basket" is a pretty safe basket in NYS.  I wouldn't be surprised if Chazen persuaded Angelo to switch to the democrat party.  A lot more registered Dems than Reps in NYS.  If your company specializes in doing engineering work for municipalities it makes perfect sense.IMO

WOW! So Chazen may be behind this whole 'slash and burn' fiasco....huh? Just to excel their own business?? WOW!

And here all this time people were a bit sympathetic toward chazen for Santabarbara drawing them into this political sh!t storm!!!!

king george

the tax and spend liberal sexist whos pea brain keeps coming up with more and more mandates for local govt to stomach

said that if santaberbara ran against him he was going to summon cronie no. 3 jesper nolan to get all the gop businesses in saratoga to stop doing business with chasen

now gadfly i know you are slow on the uptake but this would leave chasen with two options

1 fire santaberbara

2 lose all of there business

so if you want to stay on message with your fearless leader buchanan who by the way looked like a character from jersey shore on channel 10 not the chairman of your party gadfly

then right now it would be apropriate for you to say that it is obviouse chasen is not going to do business with king georges daddys business and that its obvious king george never tried to have santaberbara fired because he is still working there

tom 'the situation' buchanan forgets that king george never actually acomplishes anything he sets out to do

I am not enrolled Republican and Buchanan is not my Chairman...firing Santabarbara would not have stopped him from
running...my messages are my own....and I see you have conveniently avoided a response to Angelo's lies about his
prior association with GA...including those by omission...like Angelo's request that GA swear him into the Legislature...and
that GA obliged....all to GA's regret, I suspect.

Once again pulling straws.. No where is it stated anywhere that Chazen is involved in this.. King George's court just trying to destroy someone else on these blogs.. George lied to media about meeting w/ Joe Lanaro...  George slandered his oppenent before a judge even ruled in the case! Then GEorge still has the message on his website, that he was found guilty of with unfair campaigning... Wanna talk about not trusting someone, heres your man.. King George obviously believes he is above everyone else, doesnt have to follow any rules, or laws! He can do what he wants.

High time someone stood up against these career politicians who are out for nothing more then fattening their wallets!! Funny and Amedore sends out a flier saying "Time for government to get off our backs and out of our wallets!!"... Amedore, I hope you know that MEANS YOU TOO!!

Nov 2nd, Taxpayers will speak, and believe me alot of people will not like the outcome!! Bring this government back to what it should be, let the taxpayers who PAY all YOUR SALARIES show you just how much we dont appreciate what you have done to NYS!!!!

Being that it is Halloween next week, it will be interesting to see if Santabarbara steals KR's idea (from the last elections cycle)of placing campaign stickers on the candy they hand out? Guess all rotterdamians will have to go trick or treating at the Santabarbara house to find out, huh??

Bumble...you remember those? I did that in Angelo's campaign for the Legislature...they were so cool...we wrapped white paper
around Hershey Bars...affixed stickers with Angelo's campaign sign on them...and then passed them all around ! The response
was great...I was thinking of doing that with another candidate this year.

I never suggested that swearing in AS had anything to do with winning the election...it was only a statement about the friendship
between them before AS came up with this crazy idea to run against GA.

What I heard at the time, from AS himself, was that GA was walking door-to-door with him and had contributed $$$ to his campaign
on multiple occasions.

No one is obligated to get anyone elected...that is, and should be, up to the candidates to win over the electorate based on their
own assets...not those of another elected official.

Rest assured that PA and PG13 (whoever they are) are not the only ones working on the GA campaign...and those supporters are
not limited to a bunch of gumbas running around the AD furiously erecting signs, large and small.

And one last time...TB is not my "boss", or Chairman...I don't even acknowledge our own Chairman, let alone listen to anything
he says.

Gerard, you're working pretty hard on this.  Now, I know you're a lawyer and all, but this is why you lost and why Santabarbara will lose, the desperation is obvious.  First, Amedore should have given the courtesy of a heads up to Chazen that if an employee of his company was running against him, that Amedore homes would not be doing business with them.  Is that a threat to Angelo's job?  I don't think so, I think it's business owners having a frank conversation.  As far as how AS conducted himself on the Change Albany line, his wife testified that she forged signatures (according to Gadfly) and AS tried to say he didn't know where Candada was?  Thought Toronto was in his district? (yes, i am exagerating)  And Gerard, really?  A career politician?  I think AS has been in politics longer than GA, hasn't he?

From now til eternity, nobody will trust Angelo.  Friend or not, you'll never know if you're being recorded and then blackmailed or bullied with a copy of the tape.  Good luck Angelo, we didn't trust you when you were taking over our offices in Town Hall, don't think we'll trust you when we pull the curtain.

Ahhh.  You just don't get it BT. FDG isn't a candidate if Steve doesn't bow to the threats of Mertz and Signore. Parisi ego once again was put before sound political sense. NNTP was an alternative to Steve. McGarry took votes from FDG. You know politics?  I don't think so. That's how you sleep at night by dreaming the NNTP had an impact. They only kept the Dems from a huge rout. McGarry and Mertz would have won their pimaries if they had any mojo. They didn't and either did Parisi. Set Game Match.

I agree NNTP had little impact if any.  I also agree that McGarry and Mertz had no mojo in the primaries.  I really agree that Parisi was the problem and has no political sense.  But, I disagree on Tommasone.  The first term that Steve was here, he was great.  He was kind and respectful and worked hard to make sure that the CSEA had a fair contract, I said FAIR.  I am not a big government person either and our CSEA contracts have been a fair give and take form both sides.  Also, because there were only three Republicans, they worked together.  Something changed after Steve won reelection, he became "The Boss" and Parisi was like the Gastapo.  Anything Steve wanted was a demand and Parisi was the enforcer to make it happen.  They stopped treating the employees with any common courtesy and it got worse and worse.  Mertz and Signore were basically not involved and just did the politician thing, shaking hands and telling up what we wanted to hear.

Then a civil war broke out in the party with Parisi taking Mertz out of office.  Tommasone apparently took Parisi's side and Signore told us he was staying out of it.  Without Tommasone and Mertz working together the Reps fell completely apart.  FDG wasn't a great candidate, it was that the Reps didn't have a united ticket and didn't want Steve running the show as if he wasn't accountable to anyone.  Just my humble opinion.

But the Reps did have a united ticket.  Steve Joe and Joe were united.  Mertz was gone.  Lost the Primary and essentially had been written off by his own party and the electorate.

Steve was never a leader.  He lied and conived and bamboozeled his way through.  We are talking about an individual who has lost 5 or six town wide elections.  Most happened before his last failure.  Not a leader, not to be trusted and easily led by the nose.  Steve made huge political blunders from the start and deserved to be ousted.  So did Mertz and so did Suhrada and so did Signore (another three time loser.)

Steve was always saying the "Dems  this and the Dems that."  Newsflash, the last time I checked there are more Dems registered in Rotterdam than Reps.  Duh you think the voters had hoped that Steve changed his very partisan ways?  He didn't he lost and is done.

Blunder #1 Hiring the Parisi law firm to be the Town Attorney...No Municipal, political or government experience.  Golub conflict amongst others should have been a red flag.

Blunder # 2 Ousting the Director at the Senior Center and putting back an employee who had a checkered past at the Senior Center.

Blunder # 3 Keeping the former Democratic Chairman on the payroll after you told him he was done, who got his job because of another political lynching.  What was the "deal" there?

Blunder # 4 The Jack Denny council run was an exhibition in ameteur politics.  Who was fooled by that charade.

Blunder #5 Persuading a very hesitant Mike DellaVilla to run for council even though he had a sweetheart computer deal that could and would compromise his effectiveness and future political elections.

Blunder #6  Ousting the assessor after the reval and hiring (Drum roll please) Craig Surprise?  Why?  To lower all the good old GOP freedom fighters assessments including his brother?

Blunder #7 Lynn Fiorillo/Eunice Esposito race.  Enough said.

Blunder #8 Voodoo economics.  Patronage hires and cronyism.  We thought that was over.

Blunder # 9 Stan Marchinkowski.  Are you kidding me?  What the hell were you thinking?

Blunder #10 The Mertz saga.  Steve brought him in and Steve kicked him out!

He may rise again but it will be another loss for the perpertual LOSER!  IMHO!!

Peeper, great post.  Not sure I could make a good argument against anything you wrote.  I would agree to disagree on the united Rep ticket, Mike O'Connor won his primary but received no support or consideration from Parisi or Tommasone.  The anti-Tommasone Reps probably voted O'Connor and Mertz and to some extent that hurt the Reps.

But to your point, Steve was a very poor manager of his party and very true if not for the Dems he would never have won.

Nice to agree with you on so many points.

It's amazing to see the GOP using the same playbook that cost them last year in the Amedore/Parisi/ SantaBarbara race.  Lest nor forget that Tommasone took a bite out of Signore when he(Joe) beat Constantino.  Katy O'Connor did too!  They ragged poor Joe for promoting John DeGeorgio and hiring Patrick Aragosa at the first couple of Town Board meetings under the new Signore Administration.  You would think that Joe Signore would have smartened up but he is as stupid as they come when comparing Rotterdam Politicians.

Word of caution,,,watch the rats jump ship if the Conservartive Party doesn't garner the needed 50,000 votes.  Rhetorically speaking...good for the Dems or the shot in the arm for the resurgence of the GOP?  Anyone care to discuss?
