I wasn't shocked ... the area represented by the 20th District has had a GOP Congressman for 137 of the past 145 years.

Two things to look out for in 2011 --

will Mr. Murphy be offered a job in the Cuomo Administration --- hint- Secretary of State  .... to have a place
from which to relaunch his political career  ????

how will the current NY 20th Congressional District be redrawn by the State Legislature  --- I think it is highly
probable that the rest of Rensselaer County and Columbia County could be drawn into  Paul Tonko's district thus setting up a  Tonko vs. Gibson contest in 2012.

If that happens, Tonko will get beat.

Tonko- he is a guy with so much hot air who never does and never says anything...He lives in fantasy land.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Gibson hits the ground running
BY TATIANA ZARNOWSKI AND JUSTIN MASON
Gazette Reporters

U.S. Rep. Chris Gibson didn’t wait long to start his legislative agenda.
Just moments after he was sworn in as a freshman member of the 112th Congress, the Republican already had his name on a pair of bills he believes will help foster economic growth. One bill co-sponsored by Gibson would require Congress to vote on any bureaucratic rule that would have a $100 million impact or greater on the economy. Another would remove a provision in the federal health care bill that requires small businesses to file a 1099 tax form reporting all payments for certain services to corporations in excess of $600.
“We’re off and running,” he said Wednesday, following an open house at his new office on the fi fth floor of the Cannon House Offi ce Building. “As Thomas Paine once said, we have it in our power to make the world anew.”
Gibson, a retired Army colonel from Kinderhook representing New York’s 20th Congressional District, was sworn in with 9-yearold son Connor and 11-year-old daughter Maggie holding the Bible on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. Afterward, he pledged to uphold campaign promises to foster economic growth and job creation while reining in taxes, governmental regulation and health care costs.
“We need to change this environment that is hostile and uncertain to growth,” he said.
And like his fellow Republicans, Gibson has his sights set on President Barrack Obama’s health care reform legislation. He said the bill, as it was passed, does not refl ect the will of his constituents.
“I think it’s important that we pass bills in the House that are reflective of the will of the American people,” he said. ..........................>>>>.....................>>>>....................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01102&AppName=1

I don't know how anyone can say that Paul Tonko  "never says anything".    I have known Paul Tonko for
over 30 years and have never known him to be at a loss for words.

I want to take this opportunity to wish  Congressman Gibson the best of luck as he begins his
service in the House of Representatives.
