dream on -- the GOPwill take the house but not the senate. they will not have enough votes to override any presidential vetos. therefore, gridlock for two years. we shall see if they can "save" the country with their ownh little mircales. but i doubt it.

I love a good joke, that is why I come here.

Gridlock is much better than what we've been experiencing for the last 2 years, at least Obama's liberal progressive agenda will come to a screeching halt.

Gridlock is preferable to all DEMS. It must be a real REP tsunami if even SB admits the REPS will sweep the House. Murphy is finished and Tonko should be thrown out. The House controls spending so a REP takeover is welcome. Many of Obama stunad programs will be defunded.

As far as Paul Tonko he will be a constant presence at every festa/event-never buying anything-but dancing up a storm and blowing smoke. If you think Pelosi and Obama are doing great work re-elect the DEM stooge Paul Tonko.

Dems will keep control of the Senate.  House I am not sure about--but certainly the Family Danz better not give up their day jobs.  Tonko will sail right through this election.  Danz doesn't campaign.  Is Buchanan still running the Rep party?

Paul Tonko has lucked out. If ANY well financed opponent has emerged he would be heading out like Scott Murphy and 60+ other Obama puppets. Paul Tonko has been a horrible representative.

This shows how far the DEMS have fallen since back in the day of Sam Stratton. Paul Tonko supports every tax increase and could care less about job creation or spending cuts. He has done nothing for the people of this District. Absolute disgrace that he isn't been challenged up and down this district.

Danz has campaigned throughout the CD...and unlike Tonko, he is talking about the issues while Tonko hides from his liberal
voting record and runs from the crowds. Tonko has been campaigning for a living for decades now...it's long past time to throw him
out...of everything!

Tonko is great!  Ask the man on the street.  Sorry Danz never campaigned in my neighbrohood.  I haven't see any of his literature--just his trucks.  Tonko will win--no question.  Tonko does campaign for a living and I am glad we pay his salary.  Sorry the Danz--manz his out.  Nobody knows him.  Is Buchanan still trying to field candidates?

The GOP could have made the race more competitive  .. but the GOP in the Albany, Schenectady, Troy, and
Amsterdam area hasn't run a serious candidate for the House to represent this area  in at least 40 years
(it used to be the 29th CD of NY back in the 1960's and early 1970's)

It is currently labeled the 21st District -- and it has a +6 advantage for the Democrats based on voter
enrollment and past voting history.   It is considered the "most Democratic" district in New York state
outside of New York City.

Now -- we have no idea what the new district lines will look like in 2012 -- but we know it will cover more landarea (as the state will lose at least 1 House seat in redistricting).  There is probably no way of redrawing thedistrict without .... increasing the overall Republican voter enrollment and decreasing the overall Democratic
voter enrollment.     Thus 2012 will probably see a more "level playing field" in terms of party enrollment.

If the GOP actually finds a serious candidate  and backs that candidate with money and volunteers  .. then
we could have a horse race in 2012.

That big mouth DEM idiot Alan Grayson {D-FL} cannot even get 33% of the vote! He's the moron that said the GOP medical plan is to "die early" and compared his opponent to the Taliban.

The only thing better than this would be news that either Barney Frank or Paul Tonko is losing.

That's what Tonko does best, going to outings for free dinners and to campaign for votes, now show us all the jobs he created and how much he lowered our taxes in your dream world.

Against a candidate with no money Obama puppet Paul Tonko got 59% of the vote. He's lucky that the City of Albany is in this district. Ted Danz did better than SS Savage! Maybe he should run for County Legislature-lol-

Just responding to a few of the previous posts ---

Chuck Schumer as US Senate Majority Leader would be a good thing for New York  --- so I would be happy if
gets promoted.

Paul Tonko does NOT go to events to get free meals -- I know for a fact that he pays for the meals that he
eats  -- and at events like our parish's festival ... he spends money at the various booths.

Saying that Mr. Danz did NOT have money is a joke.   He was tauted as being a successful business man when his candidacy was announced -- and that he was going to attract a lot of campaign contributions from other  business people and could self-finance as well.    Fact is -- except for his campaign signs and the free plugs hegot on Vandenburg's station -- Danz's campaign was non-existent.

Tonko had strong majority vote numbers from Schenectady County -- particularly the city and Rotterdam.
And he still does extremely well in Montgomery County .. his home base.    He has never taken his base forgranted and works hard BOTH representing us in DC and in keeping in touch with constituents at home.

Chuck Shumer will never be a Senate leader. Harry Reid escaped by the skin of his teeth so Upchuck can stay number 2. In more ways then one.

Ted Danz did not have enough money to really mount a serious challenge. All resources properly went to Chris Gibson{R,C} who won by 10 points. Next time more money will come in against Tonko who supports Cap and Tax which will raise our utility bills $1,200 a year. The fact that Danz got over 40% is a miracle. Paul Tonko shows up at every festa to politic and glad hand without buying anything. He is famous for wanting everything comped. His money stays in his pocket. But he talks a great game about community and common good.

I was very pleased with the elections at a national level. There should always be checks and balances. It should make for interesting government in the months to come.

As far as NYS as a whole.....I was pleased by the few....... but wasn't surprised at the overall election. This is NYS after all!
