It won't make a difference what questions are asked or what points are raised, nothing will change.

Well, Righton, just come to some of the meetings and see.  See how many people HAVE spoken out, and have been just written off as quickly as they commented.  This is the same thing year after year.

The Tentative Budget for 2012 will be available at town hall in the town board room at the stroke of 5.
I am sure the crush of people trying to get their hands on a copy will be likened to the crush at Walmart
when the newest thingamajig goes on sale.  Have fun!

The budget is also already on-line.  Won't everybody that's running for office in the town be surprised that if you're going to sit on the town board, there IS NO SALARY IN THE BUDGET, and that's for ANY of the members.

You know, I was just thinking, not counting layoffs, but maybe the town board members WILL get paid next year.  Since the town board did absolutely nothing this year, maybe they're just holding onto their paychecks and will sign them over to those in the same positions next year.  And is it layoffs, or not filling empty positions, so he can say he brought in a low budget, then whoever gets into office has to tell everybody that they're raising taxes immediately to fill the positions.

Bob Godlewski wouldn't show his face at the special meeting -- just as well -- the less of him we see in town hall the better.

Mr. DelGallo tried to act like a dictator  -- hand out the budget and adjourn the meeting -- instead he learned that the WHOLE TOWN BOARD AND THE RESIDENTS actually have the right to ask questions and voice their opinion at public meeting.    The Supervisor was caught in several lies --- and proved once again that his dictator-like tactics won't work.

This is all lies and bullcrap. FDG may not have been the best super....but damn...he didn't kiss the party boss's a$$. The joke is on rotterdam's democon party. They used fdg for his money and name. They knew he was naive and thought they could lead him around by the nose....NOT!! They used him to get surprise out and majecka in and all the while promising rotterdamians that they would receive lower taxes.....NOT!! They just used fdg to further their political vindictive agenda. And never ONCE listening or thinking of the taxpayers!!

The democons are the ones that LIED to the rotterdamians! And they still are! REIGNITE ROTTERDAM!!

What began as a lovely evening has, in the eyes of many, reduced itself to madness! And I love that!

Rotterdam proposes layoffs
Proposed budget sparks heated debate; 13 jobs could be cut under plan

By PAUL NELSON Staff writer
Published 12:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 4, 2011

ROTTERDAM -- Thirteen municipal employees would lose their jobs and homeowners could see a 2.83 percent property tax hike under a 2012 budget proposed by Town Supervisor Francis Del Gallo that drew the ire of at least one elected official and some residents of this cash-strapped community.

The tax levy, or amount to be raised by taxes on the $20.1 million spending plan is $12.23 million, according to Rotterdam Comptroller Anthony Tangarone.

He said it also draws on $800,000 from the fund balance and that the surplus monies would be further drained by about $2 million the town has estimated it may need to assist flood devastated Rotterdam Junction residents. The town would eventually be reimbursed by the federal government, Tangarone added.

At times, the exchange at Monday's budget unveiling between Del Gallo and Councilwoman Nicola DiLeva grew heated when she pressed him on how his administration decided where to eliminate staff and insisted that any potential cuts to the police department were unacceptable. The budget calls for two or three detectives to be demoted to patrolman and for the same number of patrolman to be laid off and for less program offerings for senior citizens.

"I want to know how we came up with those positions being cut," DiLeva queried.

"We picked them because there is not enough money to go into next year or we'll be broke," Del Gallo responded.

Tangarone called the budget "painful" and said the main driving force was the state's 2 percent tax cap.

Del Gallo explained that he had tried to be even-handed and spread the pain in determining where to make layoffs with an eye to the future......................>>>>....................>>>>..................Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/Rotterdam-proposes-layoffs-2201092.php#ixzz1ZoDs4IFY
