Lazio has announced a NOON press conference today {9/27} to make a major announcement. He lost the endorsement of the Suffolk County CONS to Carl Paladino over the weekend.

Most observers expect him to drop out of the Governor's race-releasing the important CONS line to Carl Palsadino. That would give Carl 3 lines for Governor the same as Andrew Cuomo.

Most people are HOPING that lazio will drop out of the race!! Let's see if he will do the right thing for the already overburdened taxpayers of NYS and walk away with dignity.

He's a politician. Don't expect any of them "to do the right thing". Then you won't be disappointed.

A deal will be worked out-that's why he's dithering-to raise the stakes. Make him an offer he can't refuse.

Rick Lazio out in NY gov race, setting up showdown between GOP's Carl Paladino and Dem Andrew Cuomo

By Celeste Katz and Ken Lovett
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITERS

Rick Lazio will drop out of the governor’s race today, withdrawing from the Conservative Party line, a source told the Daily News.

"He’s out," the source close to Lazio said.

Lazio is scheduled to make an announcement about his future at a noon presser today.

Another Lazio source said he also expected him to withdraw.

I did NOT say it could NOT happen .. what I said was that based on statements from Conservative Party
Chair Long ... as of 2 weeks ago they were still supporting Lazio ..  and IF  Lazio dropped out that  a) he would have to do it before the cut off date to name a new candidate, and b) as of
2 weeks ago Long was saying that there was no guarantee that the Conservative Party Chairs would select
Paladino as their nominee  -- in fact -- as late as this morning Long was saying that it will be decided on
Wednesday by the county chairs and state committee and that they may nominate someone ELSE  all
all together and NOT Paladino.

I wouldn't underestimate Cuomo's ability to schmooze the people....but for many people.....their bet is on Paladino. Many new  yorkers look at cuomo as a 'politics as usual albany insider'. Paladino is CLEARLY just the opposite.

And right now I think it is the dems that will be on the endangered species just like the reps were. Americans are tired of both parties.

Another who? Long will put Paladino on the CONS line or he will be replaced. DVOR loves putting up strawmen. As I stated, Lazio's home County CONS committee endorsed Paladino. That's it. Lazio had to abandon ship.

This is a win-win for both Paladino and the CONS Party. They will move up again to Row C and Paladino will pick up thousands of additional votes. In NY the REPS must have the CONS line to win. The same is true in Schenectady County. The Governor's race will tighten and than we will see many DEMS turn on Cuomo. He's not exactly Mr. Warmth.

I will type slowly so you will understand, Benny ....   Mike Long said that the Conservatives will meet on
Wednesday to pick their candidate for Governor (now that Lazio dropped out) and  Mike Long said they
"may pick someone other than Carl Paladino".     Those are his words .. not mine.
