I don't agree with term limits and I don't agree with the view that politicians take against it!
It is NOT the government's roll to dictate to the electorate who and how long their favored candidate should remain in political office to represent them.
It is a moot point any way and a waste of time. There will never be term limits in the near future!

Farley says he believes in term-limits and that 6 terms or12 years sounded like an appropriate amount of time ..... HOWEVER ... so why is he waiting for a term-limit law ?? He could just stop running for reelection.
Personally, I think he has plans for a junket to some very warm and sunny place next Spring --- and he needs the taxpayers to foot the bill for his vacation -AGAIN.

UPDATE: Susan Savage's campaign has just informed The Leader-Herald that she was not invited to participate in tonight's event at the Adirondack Baptist Church, and she does not plan to attend. A spokeswoman for Savage confirmed she will participate in the forum on Thursday at Fonda-Fultonville High School.
MAYFIELD - The public will have a chance to submit questions to state Sen. Hugh T. Farley, R-Niskayuna, and his Democratic challenger, Susan Savage, at a forum scheduled for 7 p.m. today.
The forum will take place at the Adirondack Baptist Church at 1431 Route 29 and is sponsored by the Rochester-based New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms.
The public will submit their questions in writing and a moderator will pose the questions to the candidates.
Farley is seeking re-election Nov. 2 against Savage, chairwoman of the Schenectady County Legislature.
The 44th District includes Schenectady, Fulton and Montgomery counties, as well as western Saratoga County.
The next forum is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Fonda-Fultonville High School. It will be sponsored by the Montgomery County Farm Bureau.

The state Democratic Senate Campaign Committee has pulled workers out of Susan Savage’s campaign, shifting resources to other races involving vulnerable incumbents or races with stronger chances of victory, according to a committee spokesman. “This is part of our standard operating procedure. As you get down toward the fi nal weeks of the campaign, it is our job to ensure campaigns have the resources to win,” said spokesman Austin Shafran. Savage, chairwoman of the Schenectady County Legislature, is running against incumbent Republican state Sen. Hugh Farley in the state’s 44th Senate District. The committee has poured money into Savage’s campaign for advertising and to pay for workers. The Republican Senate Campaign Committee continues to support Farley’s run. Democrats have a two-seat advantage in the 62-seat Senate chamber. Sources within the Democratic Party said Savage continues to trail Farley. A Siena Research Institute poll released last month gave Farley an 18-point lead over Savage. The committee still plans to provide Savage with resources, as yet undefined, but it has reallocated her paid staff to campaigns involving incumbent Senate Democrats Darrel J. Aubertine of the 48th Senate District and Brian X. Foley of the 3rd Senate District, Shafran said. It also is focusing on the Mary Wilmot campaign. Wilmot is challenging incumbent Republican Sen. James S. Alesi in the state’s 55th Senate District, near Rochester. “Hugh Farley remains one of our top targets and Susan is running a strong campaign, and we will make sure she has the support necessary to win,” Shafran said. He would not divulge how the Democrats will support Savage, saying the information is confi dential. Travis Proulx, Savage’s campaign manager, said Savage still has a strong team in place to help get out the vote in the fi nal weeks of the campaign. “She has the infrastructure that is needed to go on with or without the state party or DSCC support,” he said. Proulx said Savage has volunteer help from several labor unions, including 1199 SEIU, which represents health care workers, including workers at the Glendale Home, the county’s nursing home. Savage is a strong advocate for keeping the county nursing home open, despite the fact that taxpayers need to subsidize its annual operations. The nursing home’s subsidy for 2011 is projected at $4 million of the $64 million property tax levy. Also assisting Savage’s campaign is the New York State Nurses Association, Proulx said. The association represents Ellis Medicine nurses, who are negotiating for a new contract. Savage supports the association’s efforts. Proulx said Savage continues to raise money and is putting out her own campaign literature, which until recently was paid for by the Senate Democrats. “There is more mail in the works and there is an entire getout-the-vote operation in the works. She is fi ne in terms of the last two weeks of the campaign,” he said. Savage has $52,000 in her campaign account, having raised $17,000 since the September primary. Farley has $355,000 in his account; he raised $5,000 since September. Two people within the Democratic Party, who did not want to be named, said part of the reason the committee shifted resources from Savage’s campaign was because of her insistence on running advertisements linking Farley with Sen. The people aka unions, that are clearly NOT behind Savage. If they were, and if she had the support that is rumored, the dem party would have continued there support. This is a major seat! The dems would like nothing better than to take this seat away from a rep.
So the idea that they pulled their support, especially when Savage is way behind in the polls, just proves that she is clearly unelectable! That is a no brainer here! IMHO

I heard the same report on the news today. It was also being discussed on radio talk shows this week. Word on the street is that Savage's campaign has, in effect, ended.

Farley is talking about reforming the legislature NOW .... 32 he was in the majority NOTHING about reform -- 2 years in the minority and all of a sudden he has become a true-believer ----- makes me think that he actually misses all the GOODIES he got when he was a Committee Chairman and member of the Majority Leadership of the State Senate.
