DiNapoli critical of Health Department’s handling of Medicaid

New York lost more than $100 million during a four-year period as a result of a faulty state Department of Health Medicaid reimbursement system, according to a new audit released by state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli.

DiNapoli said the Health Department’s eMedNY Medicaid system failed to properly apply a 20 percent coinsurance limit on certain charges. The system also failed to detect incorrect claims information about Medicaid payments.

“Time and time again, our audits have found overpayments, double payments, and fraudulent payments,” DiNapoli said. “Taxpayers can’t afford this. Now more than ever, every dime counts, and $100 million is a lot of taxpayer dimes. That is why there should be no government 'healthcare' because it has NOTHING to do with healthcare.....it's HEALTH INSURANCE.....
