If everything is the supervisors fault then why do we need an assessor for. If you go back to the Kirvin and Constantino administrations and they never did a reval either because it was 50 years since Rotterdam had one. There's enough blame to go around for many of Rotterdam's past administrations. If a reval was done more often there wouldn't have been so much of a separation between the older and newer houses taxes.

Agreed, the reval should have been done more often.   I can't speak to the Kirvin and
Constantino administrations because I was not deeply involved (or moderately involved) in
town politics and town issues during those years -- and I am certainly not defending their
inaction.

By the time the issue reached a head between 2000 and 2005 -- I think it was quite difficult
to get 3 town board members to vote YES for a Reval .. because the issue is so controversial
and misunderstood.   It took Mr. Paolino, Ms. Marco, and Ms. Vellano to have the guts to
stand up and vote YES to get the Reval done   -- they had the courage to take the political
risk and do what was right for Rotterdam.

the re-val should have been done in the past and continuously.....which leads me to the VALUE of my tax$$$$......of which I see very little in NYS...or
atleast upstate.....

I'm having a VERY hard time blaming one party over another.......the party fights are just freakin' smoke to cover something else.....

you should know this VERY well Peeper.....

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Just came from a GREAT meeting in Rotterdam Jct on the BOA study -- good discussion and many
great ideas were generated.    60 residents showed up - which is about 5% of the registered voters
in the Jct -- so it was a good turnout.
Look for details on the next meeting -- as we move forward with this important process.

I attended the same meeting and saw it a little different. Average age about 75, there was no representation from the younger residents..The more mature residents are more concerned with today not the future. Dont get me wrong, there were people that had very good ideas, I am just concerned they are dreams and really nothing that will come true. Some residents made comment to leave the town alone...PLEASE ! the town is a wreck, just a few cans of paint and some effort would make a difference. That area has such potential with the water and its Historic value, I hope to see things change. I think you are going to see a huge difference of opinion on the park....I am all for it !!

There was one boy about 10 or 11 who attended the meeting.

The difference between BOA and other grants is that once we get to the implenetation stage -- there is
money attached to the program to do actual implentation  AND a BOA grant status gives a community
higher standing or higher priority to qualify for other state and federal grants -- there are also a number
of private sources for grants.
Also,  the BOA study does all the "preliminary studies" that when we get to the implementation stage
can help facilitate proposed projects to be completed .. rather than starting each project at square one.

I think it was a good turnout -- those 60 people represent over 5% of the people in the study area.
We have had other study workshops (different programs, different issues)  at Town Hall where only 2 or
5 people showed up.
So I would say that turnout was quite good - based on my experience with such meetings.

Also, there will be at least 2 more public workshops .. so hopefully those present last night will invite
more of their neighbors to attend.

Hats off to the folks at St. Margaret of Cortona for the GREAT  Ziti Dinner that they put on
this past Saturday.     Though I am a Scotch, Polish, and Norwegian ... I do love a good Ziti dinner.

XOXO *kiss kiss*

Sounds like a campaign is gearing up!

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

I don't need a campaign to attend a ziti dinner or any other function in town.
