From bus ads to public service announcements, the county Affi rmative Action office is pulling out all the stops to get Schenectady a more diverse police department. The state recently announced that it will offer the Civil Service police exam on Nov. 13. Candidates must register by Oct. 5, which means recruiters have just three weeks left to get the word out. Ads have been placed on buses and in bus shelters. Business owners are being asked to promote the exam through window posters. Affirmative Action Manager Miriam Cajuste announced the exam on public access television and is now holding review sessions to help candidates prepare for the test. She also ran review sessions early this year for the corrections officers exam. The theory is that residents might be encouraged, through a review session, to try the exam. Schenectady police are hoping Cajuste convinces many more candidates to take the exam. The last two rounds of hiring gave the department two identical classes of white men. Of the 155 offi cers on the force, only 10 are not white men. Five are black, including the chief. By comparison, 23 percent of the city population is not white in the latest Census reports. Only 7 percent of the police force is nonwhite. Police want more minorities on the force. “The more diverse the population, the more ideas we can have,” said police spokesman Adriel Linyear. Of course it is a load of crap. They invite the minorities to move to schenectady for it's lavish welfare government handout taxpaid program and then wonder why they are not signing up to be a cop!!! They solicited a dumbed down society...well they got it! CONGRATULATIONS!

Can we have some figures on what percent of people in Schenectady are Italian, what percent are Greek, what percent are Polish, what percent are French, what percent are Austrailian, what percent are Chinese, what percent are Arab, what percent are Indian, what percent are Jewish, what percent are Islam, etc. etc. etc.
And then make sure the police force reflects that
