GOP needs candidates

A couple weeks ago here, there was an item about Schenectady Republicans failing to come up with November election candidates to oppose Democrats in races for Family Court and City Court judgeships plus a City Council seat.

As if that isn't bad enough, the other night, I spotted a roadside campaign sign for Democrat County Clerk John Woodward. I did not realize his term was up so I did some checking.

Come to find out, the Republican party has also abdicated its duty to put up somebody to oppose Woodward. Out of five November contested races the GOP has one candidate.

This GOP track record in recent years is the most dreadful I've seen in more than half-century in the news business. County Republican Chairman Tom Buchanan has set a modern-day record for political leadership ineptness.

Making matters even worse, he can't be fired because nobody wants the chairmanship.

Democrat insiders tell me they are thinking about giving Buchanan the annual Harry S. Truman Award for meritorious service to their party.

Regardless of the pissant politics will the next generation step forward........

        The PEOPLE need candidates, not the Parties.  The Party can always dig up some retread, has been, somewhere.  It's the residents that need the advocates and a voice.

Then why haven't the REPS found a retread? The only choice for the sheeple is in a DEM primary for Family Court between Bruce Trachtenberg and City Judge Clark. While the DEMS run primaries the REPS have no candidates, retread or otherwise.

     No opposition for County Clerk, Family Court, City Court Judge or City Council. If you can't find Countywide candidates let someone else do it.
