City Council to skip next two meetings
SCHENECTADY — The City Council will not meet for the next two Mondays.
It has taken half the summer off, skipping two meeting dates in July and two in August. Its next meeting will be Aug. 9. The committees meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. in Room 110 at City Hall. The voting session will begin at 7 p.m. the following Monday, and then the council will not meet again until he normal schedule resumes in September.

Its a great idea actually. Why have those meetings that accomplish nothing anyways. If they use this time to do something productive and accomplish something with the blight in the city, then it is very good. However I doubt they will, but think it is a smart new idea and atleast they are trying.

If they aren't passing stupid laws to damage the taxpayers and small business then I would like to see all politicians take the next decade off. I LOVE when they recess, whether at the national or state level, because I know they aren't making mischief and destroting our country with any new laws, regulations and taxation during the period they are home sipping lemonade.

Typical people get upset, because they think the answer to all the destruction the politicians have created through legislation is more legislation. I see it differently, more of a brief respite for freedom. In the days of our nation's founding, politicians were farmers and merchants and only worked during the year briefly. Career politicians were as unheard of as men flying to the moon. Now we have the Spitzers, the Schumers, and the Obamas,  and others who's sole purpose in life from childhood is to be a politician who spends all the days of their lives trying to tyrannize our world through control.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

According to Ismat Alam from finances in the city...McCarthy instructed her to find this info out....reducing to two meetings a month per year would save 10K in overtime pay for staff and a few hundred dollars in electricity for air conditioning.  McCarthy is really entertaining the idea of making this a possible permanent thing.  As if the 10K will help our budget issues.

One issue that they mentioned was whether the union would go for the overtime the staff would lose and if there was anything in the contract about it.  They are seriously looking into it.

Between the Color Copier and the Gas guzzling $25K+ SUV the Mayor sprints around the city in there is 10K easy.

Hey why don't they just disband the council and make McCarthy the king...a tyrant for sure.

Only in Schenectady
