BETHLEHEM-- The father of the 14-year-old prankster who engaged in a game of "ding dong ditch" over the weekend professed contrition for his son's actions.
And in cyberspace, the case has created a blogosphere buzz. "I'm very unhappy with my son's behavior Saturday night," Rob Madeo said Wednesday. "I don't condone his actions under any circumstances and we'll deal with this in the harshest possible way."
Madeo responded to the case in which Daniel P. Van Plew tackled Madeo's son, who was among four teenagers ringing his doorbell late at night. I am shocked! Someone (I don't care how old) is not only on private property, but is harassing the property owners AND the owners are charged!!! The perpetrator is has now become the VICTIM of his own crime and the victim has become the criminal!!

The kids were a pain in the butt. I have had that happen at my house more than once--neighborhood kids. Would I chase them and tackle them...NO. That guy was goofy to do that. It was a prank. They rang the bell. So call the cops on the little $hit$. No need for physcial violence. Kids were wrong for sure but gee whiz.
I think the guy has guts. Guts to do what very few people would do, and what needed to be done. If my Dad got a call like that, he would have apologized to the home owner and other than that, i don't care to even think about what would have happened to me. And not so much for the so-called "prank" as for wiseass talk to the homeowner...(as a side note, when one guy stands at your front door and one guy stands at your back door late at night while your family sleeps, then knocks or rings a bell, let me know that you are sure it wasn't a home invasion, a cult killing, a kidnapping, a gang rape, or a hot burglary about to happen, then you can call it a prank all you want. Because when both of your entrances are covered by shadows in the dark, you may think they were older than 14 and you may be incensed to find out they thought it was funny little 'joke')
I would have my teeth kicked in if I talked to an adult like that about his wife, I am sure. But I can only guess really, because I was brought up to recognize that the adults were right and I was wrong if there any kind of dispute. My parents would not have taken my side, they would of begged forgiveness from the man whose house it was and they would have been hugely disappointed in me but would NOT have hired a lawyer and expected the Rdam cops to press charges.
Anyone who thinks this guy, in the heat of the moment didn't do the absolute, all-American, red-blooded, John Wayne heroic thing is a LIBERAL SUPREME. The guy is my hero! And yes, I WILL donate to his legal defense because tomorrow it is YOU who gets screwed by the idiot parents and the liberal cops if this guy goes down.

That'd be like calling the cops for kids sending off fireworks in the middle of the night, unless they see them do it, there's nothing that can be done.

If I were home alone, I would have made sure the doors were locked and called the cops. If this happened while my husband was home, I think that he would have protected his property and handled it himself. "Then" he would have called the cops.
A friend of ours has a house that is fenced in. A kid jumped the fence and was breaking in through the window. While the kid was half way through the window, our friend's big dog saw the kid and bit the kid on his leg. The kid sued our friends and won. Nothing happened to the kid for trying to break in the house. True story.
That is liberalism for you. Too bad the punk wasn't shot dead once inside the house.

Sounds to me like the homeowner has some anger management issues. Call the cops and let them do their job. Knocking a kid around for ringing a door bell sounds a bit out of the realm of "threatening" to the guys family. This spastic homeowner would have gone off he was single. He has no right to lay his hands on that kid. Good for the parents of the kid for pressing charges. This dude dragged the kid back into his house??? And the kid was threatening?? I don't think so...........
Good for the homeowner. He doesn't have anger issues; the kid ringing the doorbell has poor parental issues. There has been a rash of burglaries in Rotterdam, and damn straight if I seen a person running off of my property after ringing my doorbell, I would try to apprehend him. They may have ringed the doorbell to see if somebody was home, and if there wasn't they may have tried to rob me. Some people aren't submissive sheep that would sit back and call the police in hopes of catching the bastards.
As we see in Rotterdam in regards to burglaries, sometimes the cops need help doing their job
The homeowner is a coward. Pick on somebody your own size is the motto I teach. I guarentee you this homeowner has an agressive way of handling issues. Hockey players are known to be "physical." His poor kids must be petrified of their own father after this. They watch there father beat up a kid and we glorify him. I don't think so.... and cissy I would love to see you hauling your fat a-s-s in your skippys chasing your neighbors kids around for calling you out for having a red roof. What a site that would be. LOL
