SCHENECTADY
Firm to bring 30 jobs into county

BY MICHAEL LAMENDOLA Gazette Reporter

A Colonie-based engineering company will relocate to the fourth floor of Center City in downtown Schenectady, bringing 30 jobs to Schenectady County, local offi cials said.
M/E Engineering is taking over 10,000 square feet of the fl oor, displacing the longtime offices of the Metroplex Development Authority. Metroplex will take over the remaining 3,000 square feet on the fourth floor, with M/E holding an option to take over the remaining space if needed, said Metroplex Chairman Ray Gillen.
“We leased up our own offi ce space. Everything is for lease,” he said with a laugh.
Metroplex will provide a $100,000 grant to reimburse the company for a portion of its lease costs, Gillen said. Metroplex will recoup the grant by leasing the company parking spaces, he said.
M/E contacted Metroplex about leasing space when the engineering company decided to expand operations, Gillen said. “We know [M/E] from their work, which is excellent,” he said. M/E is expected to occupy the fourth-floor space by the end of the year. ..............>>>>.....................>>>>.................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00901&AppName=1

This project brings 30 jobs to Schenectady County with the potential to grow to 50 jobs.
...
In recognition of the company’s investment in Schenectady County, Metroplex will provide a $100,000 grant to reimburse the company for a portion of lease costs.

We'll see about the jobs.  Every business has "potential", hopefully with no lease payments for a year (outright grant), they'll be able to pick up at least a COUPLE.

Let's not forget that these are NOT NEW jobs. They are just being relocated from on municipality to another. So when suzie boasts of job creation....this ain't one of them.

Well, TECHNICALLY, they are new to Schenectady County, so I'd count them toward the county numbers.  Unlike Golub that relocated within the county
