Meteorologist: Erik Thorgersen Last Updated: Sunday, June 6, 2010 1:16PM Weather Advisories: TORNADO WATCH until 8pm for the eastern Catskills, mid Hudson valley, Capital Region and all of western New England. . The threat for severe weather continues this afternoon as the warm sector of an approaching storm has entered a good chunk of the area. Despite the air mass not being quite as unstable as yesterday, strong atmospheric wind shear and the entrance of existing t'storms have led to the development of severe t'storms across the region which have shown signs of rotation. Therefore, there is the possibility of tornadoes within the watch area. The main threat, however, will be damaging wind gusts in excess of 58 mph and torrential downpours. . The strong area of low pressure and associated cold front will pass through the Capital Region by mid afternoon. Therefore, the main threat time for additional severe weather will be through mid afternoon. From late afternoon into the evening hours, conditions will become less favorable for the development of severe t'storms..
