I think this board needs a "group" called breaking news, so we easily find the most incredible breaking news, legitimate news.

In any event, this just in.  The governor is giving a number of his staffers a big raise, a five digit number raise!

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

If the state is going to furlough it's workers for 1 day each week, the same thing should apply to every politician in Albany as well, including the Governor, his staff, and eliminate all state consultants too.

VP Joe Biden's son had mild stroke, expected to recover; transferred to Philadelphia hospital
He's only 41 years old. TV reports that he is stable and shows no outward effects. He is talking fine and his motor skills are normal. i wish him a quick and full recovery.

yeah, lets double all government worker salary, and triple patronage hacks. Just print more money. In a democrap world, that works out just fine, until someone has to pay for it, but we will be dead by then.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

He justifies the salary increases with "They have more responsibility"...Hey, Governor, let you and your staffers deal with what we do every day, doing more with less.  You make us take a 20% pay cut yet you, your staff, and the other lazy politicians who can't get their job done, all go either untouched or get raises!  Vote them all out in November!!!

ALBANY — Gov. Paterson has granted stunning pay raises of up to 29 percent to several key aides — even as he slaps furloughs on 100,000 state workers, and his lieutenant governor threatens layoffs. The shocking move by the lame-duck governor involves five members of his embattled press office, whose two top-ranking members abruptly resigned earlier this year amid what they privately called misleading statements made by the governor.

The double-digit pay hikes, granted within the past 10 days, were first disclosed by Albany TV station CBS6 late yesterday -- just hours after public employee unions went to federal court seeking a temporary restraining order against Paterson's unprecedented move to force half the state workforce off the payroll one day a week for the next nine weeks.

Gov. Paterson
"It's a slap in the face to state employees who have had their raise delayed and are threatened with the loss of another 20 percent pay per week through the furloughs," said Public Employees Federation spokeswoman Darcy Wells.

Option number 2 is to layoff some state workers and that will really hurt.

Rip up all state worker contracts and start over. Get rid of the consultants and make it easier to fire lazy state workers (its currently nearly impossible).
