SCHENECTADY -- Price Chopper supermarkets said Friday it promoted Jerel T. Golub to president and chief operating officer, reporting to Neil Golub, chairman and chief executive officer.
Jerel is the son of the late Lewis Golub, former chairman of the company, and his appointment is part of the succession plan for Neil Golub, who remains in charge of the grocery store chain, which has 125 stores in New York, New England and Pennsylvania. Neil Golub and Jerel Golub are cousins. Jerel Golub had been executive vice president and chief operating officer since February 2008, and has had a 27-year career at Price Chopper. He is the fourth generation of Golubs to hold high-ranking positions at the company.
