Maybe they'd be better off in the SYNC property

/tic

Anyway, wouldn't this be better somewhere on a bus line where these newly matriculated "residents" could have access to public transportation?  This seems like a horrible idea/place/time for this to happen.  Has the FBP actually declared a need for a facility in the capital district?

Eliminating Industrial Property and giving into the criminals at Sync wasn't enough for the Rotterdam Town Circus? Now they want to eliminate MORE Industrial Property for the purpose of putting up a Halfway House????

This better be on the agenda because they want the proposal to die. These clowns better not be in favor of this project, but it's on the agenda so who knows what's going to happen...

152.10 Refer to the Planning Commission for report and recommendation thereon a proposed
Local Law of the Year 2010 for the following purpose:

For a Change of Zone request on approximately 1.5 acre parcel located at 1921 Chrisler Avenue from Light Industrial (I1) to Multi-Family Residential (R-3). The applicant proposes to construct a residential reentry center service facility for the Federal Bureau of Prisons for federal offenders releasing to Albany, Schenectady and Rensselaer areas.

Dear moron, how are the owner's of Sync criminals?  You all sound like the angry republicans you show yourselves to be.  Perhaps in the future if you want any moderate or democrat to take you seriously then you should consider removing some of the bias in your language.    It is amazing how ignorant you sound when spouting off falsehoods and misnomers.

Everyone on this forum 'knows' somebody that tried this or that and you all put some large conspiracy behind what "liberal media socialists" are doing.  It is very sad.

The rotterdam TB was TOTALLY and INTENTIONALLY dupped by sync and those that represented them. Give it some time and it will rear it's ugly head. This is a scam not exclusive to rotterdam.

ROTTERDAM
Post-release facility proposed
Company wants to house former federal prisoners near city border

BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter
Reach Gazette reporter Justin Mason at 395-3113 or jmason@dailygazette.net

A Pennsylvania-based company is proposing to locate a facility to house former federal prisoners on Chrisler Avenue near the border of Schenectady.
Firetree, a non-profit corporation providing post-release services to prisoners, has applied for a zone change that would allow the construction of a facility to house 16 men and two women on a property near the Hudson Street intersection. The three-quarter-acre parcel is now zoned for light industrial uses and would need to be multifamily residential for the proposal. Other Firetree facilities house sex offenders, according to information from a prior proposal in Colonie.
Members of the Town Board are expected to refer the matter to the Planning Commission during their meeting Wednesday.
The property has a vacant warehouse structure and is owned by Renato Belleti. Town Planner Peter Comenzo said Firetree hasn’t submitted plans for the property and is unsure whether they would replace the existing building with a residential structure.
The company’s zone change application doesn’t specify what type of federal prisoners would be housed. However, it suggests long-term.
“These offenders have often been removed from the community for a long period of time,” the application states.
Residents would be lodged for up to four months, although longer placements are possible. All residents would be closely monitored for alcohol and substances, according to the application. .................>>>>...................>>>>...............http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00804&AppName=1

How so bumble?  I'm a resident there and I agree that things weren't perfect but the last TB asking Sync to donate part of the property to Galesi or not get the re-zone is ridiculous.

And why didn't GP argue if he didn't, he was there when that deal was offered?  Everybody here is a fan boy of slick GP or maybe slimeball GP.

I could care less if you live there or not. The bottom line is that sync and those that represented them dupped this town board. (not that it was difficult) Sync and AB knew they could pull anything over on this merry band of idiots. And they did. AB didn't even have to work that hard to win this case considering the tb he had to work with. He should give sync a cut rate.

Now we'll see how this tb handles a half way house in rotterdam.

ROTTERDAM -- A proposal by a Pennyslvania-based non profit group to open a halfway house in this suburban town for federal inmates appears to be doomed.

"I dont support it at all," said Supervisor Francis Del Gallo Tuesday of plans by Firetree Ltd. to construct the facility at 1921 Chrisler Avenue. "Were here to get tax base, not to lose it."

Under current plans, the facility would begin accepting residents in January 2011 with 18 beds -- 16 for men and 2 for women -- increasing over five years to 36 beds, all but four of those for women.

But during the time, the number of beds could grow even higher "to match the BOP's (federal bureau of Prisons) future needs in this geographic area," according to information the organization submitted to Town officials.
