Well, can we paleeezzzeeee get back on topic here? I asked about Calder cause I never heard of him. My curiousity now goes to who the reps will put out there as an opponent.

Forgive me if my seeking information for a person that just may be making decisions and spending taxpayer's money. I thought that was what people were suppose to do. I believe that people need to be informed so they can make an informed decision when voting time comes. No?

TBV--knock off the name-calling.  You all are so smug.  Dewd and Stein stay on this site.  I have little support here.  It is true that people have been taken off this blog just due to misunderstandings.  But it is a place where most can come and air their thoughts.  Granted--it does appear to be filled with folks who are slightly right of Atilla the Hun, but we lefties are neither frightened or put off by their lack to think out of the box.

Dewd and Stein don't leave.  Why we haven't seen Cal in eight months and she wants to come back on.

BTW--Wayne Calder willl be great on the board and his arrival should be the end of GP.

Yea right TBV and I look like a true prophet by your post!  Bring it on folks.  The more you crucify me the more the masses adore me.  I will spill my blood for the end to this site and the public lynching of every past and present DEMOCRAT will end!!!

Perhaps I am missing something here...but don't the dems have a majority not only in rotterdam and in the city but also the entire state? Didn't they sweep rotterdam? Didn't they 'clean out the TH'? Are you saying and trying to lead us to believe that this little old forum can bring down the entire dem party???? WOW!!!! Or perhaps they are trying to silence free speech.

Thanks for the vote of confidence dewd!

I think the fact that Dewd joined this forum because he/she would like to see it shut down is awesome!  For me to be mentioned by my screen name by a new member is great!  Sounds like some people are upset that the Peoples Gazette has lost its monopoly on steering public debate.  No longer can the Gazette run interference for those whom they ally themselves with politically.(Eunice)  No longer can the Democrats depend on the public access channel edit the undesirable portions of the town meeting broadcast and claim "technical difficulties."

This current town board is losing the battle of philosophies.  And they're not losing it to an opposition party, since there is not formidable semblance of an opposition party.  They are losing to non-party affiliated residents of Rotterdam.

You are a good soldier Dewd...Keep up the good fight.  I look forward to it.

Cis--you are such a kiss-a$$.    BTW your post is out there.  Gazette is clearly on the side of the Reps.  And can you do or write anything without attacking Eunice.  She could still kick any Rep's butt in an election.

I'm not attacking Eunice.  She's the peoples elected official - I am questioning her ability to serve in the peoples town hall.  That was the reason our forefathers believed in freedom of the press.  The press was supposed to be the watch dogs for the people.  Since they have failed miserably at every level, residents must rely on the internet and forums for information.  And as we can see, even people like Dewd want to suppress opposition speech on internet forums.

BTW, if she is so popular with residents that she would win another election, why is she on "sick" leave?

Soon, I suppose I will read that this blog is "seditious" and a grave threat to the government, or some other clap trap that has been run through the NY Times editorial page, and that the "police" or the "national guard" or some other entity should shut it down. How scary is it to you Democrat totalitarians that a few Americans still want to live free and peaceably assemble? When a government gets to having 4 out of 5 of its citizens distrust it, then its agents should consider how they might change their ways, instead of threatening and throwing tantrums. The Tories and Quakers of colonial times didn't react very fast to that dynamic either; lets hope that no one in position of authority decides they will begin any kind of clampdown on speech using force, lest they stand in front of a mirror and imagine what they may look like with a stretched neck somewhere down the line. These things always end up badly down the road once the people (whose rights are God-given) prevail over that sour brand of authoritarianism that is being bandied about as of late, in an effort to stifle dissent. I assure you that a vast number of citizens will not accept marshal law, police-state tactics, or any other misuse of domestic or armed services forces against the citizenry, no matter what the local ruling class or police leadership wants to force on us dissenters. Run the math, ADD THE NUMBERS UP. Don't make threats, for your sake latter on.

This site, no matter how objectionable to those wielding power today, stays. Thrives, actually.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

My curiousity now goes to who the reps will put out there as an opponent.

In keeping with the normal incompetence of the local Republican party, they will likely announce their endorsed
candidate very late in the election cycle after naming an individual, having him/her withdraw, and then settling
for someone who can't win.

By the way, have the Republicans named an opponent for Tonko yet?  NO.  They will either allow him to
run unopposed (a travesty) or the Reps will announce a candidate in the 11th hour, rendering him/her little
more than a token candidate, a sacrificial lamb.  Serious Congressional races began last year.

On a related topic, I have heard whisperings of a candidate who is interested in running with the Independence
Party.  The name I heard is Tomaselli.  Is this the realtor?  I thought that he is a Rep.  I also heard that he
may look for the backing of the No New Tax Party.  Anyone know anything about this?

Silly, Republicans only run against other sitting Republicans.

Recap - Suhrada vs. Mertz - Parisi vs. Amedore - let's not forget former Republican turned Democrat Santabarbara vs. Amedore.

Maybe in keeping sync with the local Republican Party, the state Republicans will announce Amedore is stepping down to run for the Rotterdam Highway Dept.

Republicans have a little identity crisis going on in Rotterdam.

New beat for police
Marv Cermak

Democrat leaders successful in electing a former police chief to the Schenectady County Legislature are going back to the well, so to speak.

Several years ago, retired Rotterdam Police Chief Tony Jasenski won a seat on the board. Now Democrats are supporting the candidacy of Wayne Calder to oppose Rotterdam GOP Councilman Gerard Parisi in the fall election.

Calder, a 31-year-police officer, was an assistant chief under Jasenski. Both retired from the force in 2001. Parisi is the lone Republican on the Town Board.
