Schenectady County Sheriff's employee arrested SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- A Schenectady County Sheriff's Office employee has surrendered to police on charges that he harassed and unlawfully imprisoned a female this past weekend.
Niskayuna police say Ross Lackey, 27, strangled and hit the female victim during a series of arguments. The victim says Lackey also took her cell phone, not allowing her to call for help.
The victim says she didn't suffer any physical injuries in the dispute.
Lackey was released and due back in court later this week.
I find it so hard to understand exactly what happens to people when they reach a level of power. I don't understand exactly what changes them to this level of abusive power. Or perhaps they were like that right from the get go. Whatever the reason, it is what it is and they are what they are. They have become no better than the uncivilized thugs on the street. Once something like this happens, they should be let go immediately!!

Schenectady County Sheriff Dominic Dagostino on Monday suspended a corrections officer who had been arrested in a domestic incident over the weekend. Ross M. Lackey, 27, of Niskayuna, was charged Saturday on accusations that he hit a woman, used a strangulation hold on her, took away her cell phone and prevented her from calling for help. The incidents occurred twice on Saturday, once in the early morning hours and once later in the morning, police said. The woman was able to come to the Niskayuna police station later that morning and file a report. A warrant was issued for Lackey’s arrest and he surrendered at once, police said. Your response radiates with ignorance. Why should he be held at a higher standard than anyone else? Who are you to say he thinks he is above everyone else and thinks he can act like a street thug? Maybe its the job that changes them, maybe they are the real victims. They do a job unappreciated by everyone. I'm sure you don't experience what these men experience on a daily basis. Have you ever seen a person try to kill themselves? or bathe in their own feces? or have someone threaten your life or the life of your family just because you went to work that day? You sit here criticizing a man who may have done nothing wrong. What ever happen to due process? or is that only for criminals? If good people slip up its always because of their job "power" or whatever else people like you may determine. I bet you've been a shining star your whole life. Never did anything wrong. Maybe he did nothing. Many women have accused men of doing things knowing full well it could ruin his life. Who's to say that isn't the case here? I find it funny that he did all of these terrible thing but she had no physical injuries at all. It goes to show, you really can be charged for anything.
