If GP is in galesi's pockets, it must also mean that the merry band of idiots are in golub's, ivonella's, larned's, sync/brick's pockets, yes?

It would be interesting to see how the chain of events would have changed if it were golub, ivonella or larned that were posing the conflict with sync.

Again, as usual in rotterdam, the players are always the same.....just the support swings in a different direction all depending on the positioning. This is rotterdam and this is how rotterdam elected officials do business.

And Avon....that was an excellent post!

The video of FDG saying that 'everyday over ONE that EE works is a bonus for the town', should be saved and used when someone is campaigning for office on 'how to not get elected'. Or here's one better yet....'he doesn't have a hair, you know where'. That's a sure winner! Now those are campaign slogans sure to make you lose an election. And N.Duh's, could be used for back up!

I really do hate poking fun at these clowns, but they make it so easy and hard to resist.

FDG wasn't defending her showing up for one day, it did come across that way.  He said, she is an elected official, she can show for one day and she gets a salary.  Basically, you elected her, so deal with it.  Someone has to do her job.  At least that is how I saw it, correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't know about the people who you are saying the current TB is in bed with, but how so Golub?  And sorry, GP arguing for an environmental study of the Sync rezone screamed out that he has another agenda there.  I don't see how the lawsuits can come flying on the Sync rezone, anyone care to fill me in?

Rotterdam Town Board badly out of sync with county, town planners

On Wednesday, Rotterdam residents and voters were given a local lesson in political arrogance [April 15 Gazette].
Against the recommendation of the Schenectady County Planning Board, Rotterdam Planning Commission, the town’s Comprehensive Plan Committee, and a petition signed by 230 residents and several local business owners, the four new board members (Supervisor Frank Del Gallo, Robert Godlewski, Matt Martin, and Nicola DiLeva) changed the law. These four formed a “supermajority” and gave in to the demands of New Jersey-based Sync Realty Inc. to begin legally renting out the 50 units in the old military housing facility by Five Corners.
This is an incredible reversal. Less than a year ago the town spent thousands of tax dollars to fight Sync in state Supreme Court! Sync lost and was supposed to have shut down. Although that would have defi - nitely been tough on the families in the short term, there are plenty of other nice apartments in Rotterdam.
Everywhere you look, Rotterdam has dilapidated buildings, empty shopping centers and vacant storefronts. Where are the ideas to improve this town? Is this the answer?
This vote rewards a company that came into our town and set up housing that has not met zoning requirements that everyone else must meet. It is plain and simple. Now that the zoning is residential, will the town inspect the property and enforce the codes?
The change in zoning sends the residents of Rotterdam a very strong message about the priorities of this administration. It raises questions in the minds of many voters. Are the interests of the New Jersey-based Sync Realty, Inc., with their grandstanding lawyers, more important than the long-range interests of the town, its residents and all of its planning commissions? Is what they had in mind when they campaigned on the slogan, “Revitalize Rotterdam”?
Residents should keep this arrogant behavior in mind when these politicians come up for re-election.

Stein I hate to disagree with you but FDG is very wrong. Elected full time officials and appointed employees must work a basic 40 hour work week. In light of all that has been going on with the state comptroller's investigation into retirement fraud ST and those board members passed legistlation stating just that. The antiquated idea that an elected full time offivial does't have to show up for work, or in this case one day, is bogus. This is our tax money that we are paying a hefty salry for. And let's not forget the bennies that go along with it. Now in this situation she still continues to get paid and these clowns hire another fulltime employee, plus bennies, to do her job. I am getting very tired of hearing and reading all the excuses that are being made on her behalf. Plus I think these four clowns got alot of mileage from what term "Eunice bashing" in the last election but now to many it is becoming nothing more but an embarassment to our town.

here is part of the supreme court decision. Here's the link if anyone wants to read it..........http://decisions.courts.state.ny.us/ad3/Decisions/2009/506371.pdf

Quoted Text
Finally, we are not convinced that plaintiff will suffer
irreparable harm if defendant terminates sewer service to
plaintiff's parcel or that plaintiff cannot be compensated
monetarily for any such harm should it ultimately prevail in this
litigation.  Moreover, there is unrefuted evidence in the record
that defendant gave notice to all potential purchasers of the
parcel, including plaintiff, that it would terminate sewer
service upon the sale of the parcel by the United States.
Despite this knowledge, plaintiff purchased the vacant parcel and
entered into residential leases with several tenants.

Considering that plaintiff's alleged harm appears to be in part
self-created, it cannot be said that the balance of equities
tilts in plaintiff's favor.

Mercure, J.P., Rose, Stein and Garry, JJ., concur.
ORDERED that the order is affirmed, with costs.

I'm no attorney, but it appears to me that the tb didn't take the advice of the supreme court...yes?

I guess you need to check the history of former Town Clerks. The responsibility of the position is to make sure the office runs ... not necessary to be there, and former TCs were NOT there more than a few hours to do that. (check back)

Nobody here minded (or appreciated apparently) Eunice being FULL TIME FOR OVER THIRTY YEARS, not even taking lunch breaks or vacations, HUH??? Let's see ... how much is OWED TO HER over that time for just that???? The office has ALWAYS had other workers -- full and part-time --- check the other town offices, not even as busy!!! What are you thinking???? Get a new soapbox, for goodness sake. Stop trying to beat this dead horse.

The town owes EE more than we can ever repay with her salary alone!! DO THE MATH!!! And then stop it!!!

You Reps are just sour grapes that the residents rose up to show their support of EE when the town board and ST tried to make her life miserable! How did that work for them???
WELL let's see ... they were not elected and SHE was !!!! The election of the new Dem Board is directly related to the Reps being stupid and the people responding in support of the only one they could always count on for thirty-plus years!!

So Eunice now needs some of the sick time she has earned ... and you're complaining?????!!!!! ....  are you kidding? Are you jealous and vindictive or ignorant???!!!
Don't think the residents who elected her didn't realize that any 83-year old just might not be able to keep up the same level of health and presence she did over the past many years!!!  AGAIN, do the math ----- we have gotten MORE than our money's worth out of this workhorse!!! The MAJORITY of the residents of Rotterdam know that very well!!!

I'm not faulting EE for taking sick time. Blame needs to be placed on this tb for making the taxpayers pay $50+/year and adding insult to injury, hires a full time employee to do her job at $30+/year. This has become political...not personal and that was done by the hands of EE herself during her campaign. And now she has committed fraud and I hear there are other's pending.

And the taxpayers owe EE nothing. She has been paid very well to do the job she chose to do. If you commit a crime, you need to take responsibility for it and be held accountable. If you do a good job, you will be allowed to receive a paycheck. End of story.

Don't put EE's illegal actions at the feet of the taxpayers. EE brought all of this on herself and clearly needs to go....as in retire! And she needs to stop costing the taxpayers even more money than they already pay.

The gumbas/friends have all but died off. There are younger and smarter taxpayers in town now. And believe me, they are not all reps.

What part of "the office has always had several employees besides the Town Clerk" didn't you understand??? How is that this Board's fault?
The office has always had a Deputy TC, and various full and part-time employees.

Just like the other offices in the Town.

Defend her all you want.  She will be going out with a whimper.  She should have given
HER SALARY to her NEW Deputy, not put that huge bill on the taxpayers.  Clearly, the
TB is NOT working within the budget.  There was a person in there already working in
that capacity WITHOUT THE TITLE OR STIPEND.

Here is the Rotterdam Code concerning compensation of elected officials:

CHAPTER 63 SALARIES AND COMPENSATION

[The salaries and compensation of Town officers and employees are determined annually by the Town Board. Information concerning current salary and compensation figures is on file in the office of the Town Clerk where it is available for examination during regular office hours.]

So isn't the solution to make the Town Clerk job a daily wage or hourly vs. an annual salary?  If you come to work you get paid, if you stay home, you don't.  You are still the elected official, but pay is commensurate for work performed.  This way if you don't come to work, and another employee is doing your job, then we (the tax payers) aren't paying twice for the job.  Seems fair to the employee and the tax payer, if you need/want the money, then come to work.  This meets the professional and personal integrity concerns associated with any job abuse.

Avon--where did you get your political acumen from FOF or the NNTP school?  The TC position should be an annual salary.  Even the porters in PC get paid if they don't come to work if they are sick.

You folks waste your time slamming EE.  It also makes you all look like a group of disenfranchised candidates because of former election losses.  And MM if you knew how to field candidates you might have considered somebody who could beat an 83 year old senior who only had one line.

Selflessness and Stein have the posts that make sense.
