BT--your response about Catholic social poor doesn't make sense. I am talking about social justice principles. You may not be Catholic so I don't expect you to know them but there are several-- 1. G-d's preferential option for the poor (nothing to do with smoking or drinking soda--it's putting the needs of the poor first 2.Dignity of people--avoiding war--human life being destroyed through abortion or euthanasia 3.Being in community, or family--how you organize the community--economics, law, politics 4. Protecting human rights--big with Tonko and should be with all of us 5. The rights of workers - working with dignity, what about the working poor? 6. You want peace? Work for justice. Being a global citizen 7. Caring for the environment
Tonko subscribes to these principles. I am sure there are more but those are the ones I have taught about.
Cis-you could be right--I just don't think so. Brian is a GREAT guy and I would vote for him BUT he needs to be up for a position that is reasonable. It is hard to beat Tonko even though he is in over his head. I am sure he will defer to those in the party on issues. We all do the same thing every day at work, school or church/synagogue/mosque. We give in to the majority.
And I would tell Mr. Tonko......he has NO RIGHT to legislate brotherly love.....IT'S JUST THAT PERSONAL.....
