Quoted from GrahamBonnet
Meanwhile the "bishops" and "The Church" are all for this health care law, along with "The Doctors" and "The Seniors..."

The seniors fighting for their lives (literally) at the Town Hall meetings, and those that tore up their AARP cards are against Obamcare, and the bishops are against it because of abortions and lack of a conscience clause.

Many doctors are against Obamacare and many will retire or change careers. It is the AMA who is for Obamacare, but they are a silly, liberal organization, who don't represent all doctors.

Sunnie-I know of NO seniors who really believe that hype about death panels.  GB is correct--the docs and the church is for this bill.  You are wrong in your thinking.  I have a doc living across the street from me.  She works in an ER/ICU in NYC and is DEFINITELY for this law.  She is a young doc about 36 yrs. old.  Seniors were being lied to and many tore up their cards because they believed that crap that Palin was promoting.

Healthcare is out of control.

You should really read the bill, there is a clause that states b4 certain procedures can be performed your doctor must get approval from the government board and the government has already stated that many expensive procedures will be greatly curtailed in order to cut expense. It may not be a death panel but it will certainly slow down your ability to get quality care the type we get from our doctors now. How can you insure 30 million more people, most of whom have no money, with fewer doctors and not cut benefits to those who already have good health insurance. AARP is in the insurance business and have cut a deal with the government to be a provider of health-care and are no longer an advocate for the seniors.

No doubt the cost of healthcare is out of control. However socailized medicine is not the answer. This is going to become an enormous expense to the tax payers in this nation and that has nothing to do with Palin. Where is the tort reform needed. Medical malpractice insurance is also out of control. This new entitlement program will be the same as social security and medicare and will out of control spending as all government programs are. When the immagration reform starts and we give amnesty to 30 million new citizens then they will also be on the gov't teet. W-2's will contain the cost of our healthcare plans and 16,000 new IRS agents hired. Obama has taken the best healthcare system in the world and will destroy it. Finally the majority of Americans were against this new program and Tonko and the othets refused to hear us. Maybe he and the rest will hear us in Nov. when we VOTE THEM OUT!

I worked for 35 years and gave up a some raises in order to get my health-care benefits that I enjoy today. I have been informed by my union that thanks to the Obama health-care bill I may lose my prescription drug plan and get dumped into the Medicare part D drug plan which stinks. The health-care bill is a train wreck and needs to be changed radically or repealed and anyone in Congress who voted in favor of the bill needs to be put in the unemployment line.

I can't believe that the many people who support Obamacare are so willing to give up liberties for the sake of saving money.

Oh how far we have fallen since the founding of this once great country.  It was Patrick Henry who once said "Liberty or Death".  It seems so many are willing to give up their liberty and that of their children for their own fear of death.

My uncle is 78 years old and is, or at least was, entitled to a colonoscopy screening every 5 years. He was just told that anyone over 65 is no longer eligible for a colonoscopy screen, unless there are symptoms present.

My mom's co-pay for a hospital stay just went from a one time $400 co-pay per admission, to $300 per day for the first 5 days for each admission. I called to question the change and I was told that the seniors are being "dumped" into what they call Extended Medicare which is part of the new Health care reform.

These stories are terrible to read about. I can retire anytime I want but one huge concern I have is what will my healthcare be in five years. I am in very good shape right now but who knows later on. We have to get people like Tonko out and then either repeal this monster or just not fund it.

If that isn't rationing and refusal of benefits what is. By the time Nov 2 rolls around a lot more people are going to be adversely affected by the new health-care bill and the Dems that voted for this bill had better start sending out their resumes because we the people are going to fire them all and take our country back and start shrinking government, making them accountable, and taking our liberties back from them.

Joanne--
If that is true about the coloscopy, tomorrow I will bring that question directly to Michael Burgess.  In fact I may see him later tonight at Mass.  One of the basic things that is being pushed by NYSOFA is that seniors (over 65) have several tests routinely and colonscopy is one of them.  18 months ago I completed a survey of 100 Albany County seniors and coloscopy, mammogram, and several other questions were included in that survey.  Director Burgess is committed to that level of care for seniors.  He is also the same person who pushed for EPIC for seniors.

It is imperative that your comments be brought to Burgess for action.

My uncle lives in GA. He and my aunt moved there 2 years ago to be near their son. They have many medical problems. But my girlfriend's father is also 78, lives in NYS and was told the same thing. He is covered by medicare only.

Boomer, you still don't get it. This administration has a czar in it that favors putting birth control in the drinking water to cut the population down. They want to reduce the number of people so that it will be less expensive to support all of them. If you are older or unborn then you will be reduced because you are unproductive and your age as it relates to your quality of life and cost to the government. John Holdren, Obama's Science Czar, says: Forced abortions and mass sterilization needed to save the planet

These ideas (among many other equally horrifying recommendations) were put forth by John Holdren, whom Barack Obama has recently appointed Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, Assistant to the President for Science and Technology, and Co-Chair of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology -- informally known as the United States' Science Czar. In a book Holdren co-authored in 1977, the man now firmly in control of science policy in this country wrote that:

• Women could be forced to abort their pregnancies, whether they wanted to or not;
• The population at large could be sterilized by infertility drugs intentionally put into the nation's drinking water or in food;
• Single mothers and teen mothers should have their babies seized from them against their will and given away to other couples to raise;
• People who "contribute to social deterioration" (i.e. undesirables) "can be required by law to exercise reproductive responsibility" -- in other words, be compelled to have abortions or be sterilized.
• A transnational "Planetary Regime" should assume control of the global economy and also dictate the most intimate details of Americans' lives -- using an armed international police force.

Impossible, you say? That must be an exaggeration or a hoax. No one in their right mind would say such things.

Well, I hate to break the news to you, but it is no hoax, no exaggeration. John Holdren really did say those things, and this report contains the proof. Below you will find photographs, scans, and transcriptions of pages in the book Ecoscience, co-authored in 1977 by John Holdren and his close colleagues Paul Ehrlich and Anne Ehrlich. The scans and photos are provided to supply conclusive evidence that the words attributed to Holdren are unaltered and accurately transcribed.

[UPDATE: Make sure to read the new statements issued by the White House and by John Holdren's office in response to the controversy raised by this essay -- you can see them below following the Ecoscience excerpts, or you can jump directly to the statements by clicking here.]

This report was originally inspired by this article in FrontPage magazine, which covers some of the same information given here. But that article, although it contained many shocking quotes from John Holdren, failed to make much of an impact on public opinion. Why not? Because, as I discovered when discussing the article with various friends, there was no proof that the quotes were accurate -- so most folks (even those opposed to Obama's policies) doubted their veracity, because the statements seemed too inflammatory to be true. In the modern era, it seems, journalists have lost all credibility, and so are presumed to be lying or exaggerating unless solid evidence is offered to back up the claims. Well, this report contains that evidence.

Of course, Holdren wrote these things in the framework of a book he co-authored about what he imagined at the time (late 1970s) was an apocalyptic crisis facing mankind: overpopulation. He felt extreme measures would be required to combat an extreme problem. Whether or not you think this provides him a valid "excuse" for having descended into a totalitarian fantasy is up to you: personally, I don't think it's a valid excuse at all, since the crisis he was in a panic over was mostly in his imagination. Totalitarian regimes and unhinged people almost always have what seems internally like a reasonable justification for actions which to the outside world seem incomprehensible.

Ok I will speak to Burgess and get some explanation.  StateWide Senior Action Council did a lot of oversight to the Medficare Part D effort.  It was a huge disaster.  I am not sure if your friend's father would be given wrap-around coverage from some other plan.  I will look into it.

Personally I am not a fan of this new coverage and my daughter who works in the insurance industry changed her registration to Republican the day after it became law.  For our business the result is yet to be determined.  But it is important that the State director know about these anecdotes NOW--He has been a good director and that could change if Cuomo gets in.  Burgess was a Spitzer guy.
