Due to the merger of Immaculate Conception and Our Lady of the Assumption parishes in June, Fr. Cebula left for St. Mary's Crescent, Fr. Bob DeMartinis will be leaving Immaculate - just announced, Fr. Vincent Ciotoli, currently pastor of Immaculate Conception Hoosick Falls will take over the new, as of yet unnamed new combined parish.

It's currently unannounced where Fr. Bob will be moving to. Not unknown, just unannounced.

Vince Ciotoli was at St. Teresa's in albany which merged with St. Catherine's to form the new Mater Christi Church.  Vince is an excellent pastor and a "holy"man.  His voice being able to project is a problem a bit since he suffers from a neurological disorder.  But he is a good man.  Sorry about the loss of Bob DeMartinis.  He too is an excellent celebrant.  There are only 66 priests left in the diocese.  I suspect we will see ordained married men before we see women being ordained.

I'm sure Father Ciotoli is a good man but Father Bob was the reason I went back to church after many years. He truly is a fabulous pastor. IMHO

MT--yes there are married men who are ordained but they didn't start out as Catholics.  They were ministers in other religions.  The only ordained married men in Catholicism is a diaconate.

Basil- I must agree with you Fr. Bob said the most remarkable thing I have ever heard at a funeral for a young person.  I would suspect it gave great comfort to her parents.  It was so extraordinary I called him that afternoon to compliment him on such a homily at such a time of tragedy.  Hope he will be close by.

It appears that as the older parishioners dies off, so do the churches. The next, younger generation isn't much interested in the 'GODLY' things. This is the case in most churches. Although I would like to know the stats if the Muslim and Jewish churches. I only see and know about the decline in the catholic and protestant churches.
