Under the bad ideas we can't get rid of-now the City wants to waste more tax dollars on top of the million already flushed at the pathetic Gillette House to open a "visitor's center" in Proctor's arcade. You can't make this stuff up. Instead of looking to cut spending and Lord forbid taxes {facing a $7 MILLION deficit} the City Council thinks up another insane spending scheme.
Since Death Ray and Metrograft has totally failed to bring any retail Downtown now we must fill the vast emptiness with a useless "visitor's center". We already have the Edison for dusty radios and old tubes-we don't need another white elephant down there. City Center, Big Hose and the parking garage are quite enough.
I was talking to one of the downtown bar owners. They said that they are very very slow.... UNLESS....proctors has a show like WICKED. They went on to say that they need more of a draw than proctors. They need constant, consistent traffic.
That's what happens when you construct around ONE entity and expect it to carry the entire area!!! Not to mention that it is OUR money that supports Proctors!
