I find it ironic that Eunice's own brother angry at losing the supervisor's race to Jim Constantino described a "Rotterdam mentality" that made them pull the lever for Jimbo again.  Bill Osta would never have been guilty of child-molesting or corruption.  He was a good, honest man.  It took Guilderland schools to finally nail Jimbo.

It's the same "Rotterdam mentality" that is defending his sister.  Those that don't see anything wrong with what she did are clearly misguided as to the duties of a Notary.  She broke the law, plain and simple.  She admits it.  She should be surrending her stamp, not necessarily her post, without any further discussion.  If she had wanted to assist senior citizens, she could have visited them in the hospital or their homes to witness their signature.  If she had, we wouldn't any of us be discussing this, now would we?  She truly has been devoted to helping residents.  However, she her decision-making process in this regard was clearly wrong and she knew it.  It could have a ripple effect on more things than just the STAR program.  Who knows how many legal documents were falsified.

The Town Ethics Commission should be conducting an investigation immediately.  Have they been brought into the picture at all?  What is their involvement??

The NYS Department of State should also be conducting an investigation.  The new Town Board should be proactive on this since all but one campaigned on transparency.

Are they suffering from a "Rotterdam mentality" syndrome too?

everyone just loves those dumb government programs.....well, guess what, nice person or not Ms.Esposito was wrong. However, being in NYS this is status quo....
make the law, make sure you are related to someone who enforces the laws then make sure you know alot of folks so you can do what you think is right in your mind's
eye......

were the Pharisees voted into their positions of power?

as a side note AGAIN!!!!!-----The seniors and/or anyone/everyone should be up in arms about the government making them crawl on the floor for the measly crumbs
of STAR or any other program, supposedly to 'better' their lives all the while garnering votes via podium pucks.....shame shame shame sham sham sham......

and last I knew this is America and one does have choice.....even the person who thinks they need STAR instead of new elected officials.......

If Eunice had real friends, they would have encouraged her to not run again, but endorse someone else that was capable and competent to do the job.  She could have passed over the baton with honor.  Now she could be shamed into resigning.

The handicapped tags could be telling on how often they were issued falsely.

Now opening the confidential mail to the Ethics Commission?  I can see the learning curve for the new TB members, but not the seasoned long-term Clerk.

What's next?

This isn't about politics.  It's about a woman who has a big heart, but her judgement is now clouded.  Her real friends should be supportive and encourage her to retire before this snowballs into more failings.

How do we know now that EE didn't open it thinking that this letter was about her? Perhaps she would have shredded it. Perhaps? Everyone will question everything now! And rightfully so!

But they will have to put them in written form.

I can't wait for alleykat to get back and help defend EE thru this latest issue.  I'm not seeing any possible way he, or anyone else can defend her after a second "indiscretion" like that which involves confidentiality and professionalism.

Eunice dear, it's time to join your friends at the senior center, enjoy your afternoon tea and live out your golden years before your reputation is forever tarnished.

I tried to tell Eunice in 2001 that she should have seriously considered making that her last run. It is well known that her
family has been increasingly frustrated over her unwillingness to retire.
Back when the Ethics Law was first passed in 2001, one of the things we encouraged was a PO Box, which they did get. At the time,
Eunice was opposed to the measure, insisting that she would never open their mail. It was our position that a PO Box was necessary
to eliminate any temptation of something like this.
And would you believe that in their meeting Wednesday night to address this breach of confidentiality, they couldn't decide whether
to get the PO Box? They just couldn't decide if it was worth about $50 per year, out of a $4,000 stipend (twice the amount they used
to get), to protect the confidentiality of complaints, or the integrity of that Board. Amazing.
For the record, there was no mention of any complaint filed with regard to the Notary issue.
BT makes an interesting point about EE's suspicion that the complaint was about her Notary crisis. I was at TH yesterday to get a
recent copy of the law and she was visibly concerned about the request. Just the day before, she invited me into her office to discuss
her current situation. To her surprise, I think, I told her exactly what I thought...I believe she expected me to sympathize with her.
She not only defended what she's done, but stated she would do it again. I told her she is a criminal defense attorney's worst
nightmare. I can't imagine what Andy Brick thought when he saw her confession in the newspaper.

I disagree with needing a P.O. box.  The Town Clerk should have the ability to discern which mail she should and should not open.  If something isn't addressed to her office, or to the town in general, she should not open it.

Should we get a P.O. box for every department, because she opens their confidential mail also? Or should she quit her job and avoid even MORE shame!

I agree that they SHOULDN'T need one...for any department. Unfortunately, we can't depend on them not to open mail not addressed to them, and who knows who will get curious even after Eunice delivers it to their open, accessible and unlocked mail slot in the Supervisor's office.

Why is Eunice even delivering mail? Is that what she was elected/paid to do?  Doesn't she have enough duties?   I would think any office peon could be a delivery person.

Last time I went to the clerk's office, I was greeted by an office worker in the back.  When I asked her for help, Eunice hurriedly ran to the window.  She doesn't even let her employees talk to people coming into the office.

Couple this with the fact that she is the only one who can sign death certificates, and will soon (hopefully) be unable to notarize documents, her monopolization of such vital tasks in the Town Hall will soon be a detriment to the residents.

I was across the hall today from Eunice's office getting a copy of my tax bill.  I heard loud voices and turned around to witness that
the office worker and Eunice were arguing.  Eunice said something and the girl said to her that " I know you want those two girls back
here, but I am here and successfully hired off a list." Eunice said that "she is going to get those girls back here as soon as that bastard
hires me help." The office worker said to Eunice "I know you are in trouble, but you are not to take it out on me any more and after you
told me yesterday that all my problems began when you were hired, I thought you were rude." Eunice was spittting and sputtering saying
that she didn't say that "it must have been your imagination".  The office girl said "not my imagination Eunice, you said it to my face during
your ranting and raving due to the article in the newspaper."

I am so glad I was at town hall to witness that today.  That office girl did not back down!  Good for her!

Who is "that bastard?" Bob G? FDG? Chris Gardner? Bill Cooke? Who is the hiring person?

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
