By her own admission and the notary public law, Eunice committed a misdemeanor. If found guilty by a judge or jury, she will have a criminal record. Nothing to do with if she is well liked or a great public servant. She violated established law, intentional or not.
This isn't really about Eunice Esposito -or higher or lower ' standards ' .It is an ethical issue for sure - I view it as an indictment of the Pharisees ( MT -TBV-Tippy-Bumble-Cicero- GB- ForF )- those righteous- by their own words, pressing for guilt according to the law. There is something to the distinction between the letter and the spirit of the law. It is possible to follow the letter of the law to the fullest and yet completely lose the spirit. And sometimes, keeping the spirit of the law may require a little easing of the letter of the law- |

The vote to CHANGE the law ... but right now, that IS the law ... something she's sworn to uphold. |

First of all I would love to know what illegal activities the previous administration was involved in? Can't believe anyone would make such an accusation without any concrete evidence. Putting statements like this out there just propagates the notion that everyone in this town that holds, has held, elected office is dirty. |

WTH are you talking about????? Are you saying that the notary law should not be upheld by the 'letter of the law'? Is it really that complex of a law? The law states that a notary be in the presence of the person's signature they are notarizing and attesting to. Are you saying that the writers of this law should not follow it by 'the letter'? |

Somebody,
How will the spirit of the law feel when you come back from a business trip and find that your deed has been signed over to your wife's boyfriend, and of course "your signature" has been notarized? By the time you get that into court at a considerable cost you might just walk away and chalk it up to a lesson learned. Right? How about when your brother re-writes your Dad's will, and you guessed it- Dad's signature is notarized! Oh gee-whiz, you didn't want to be part of that estate, anyway! Besides, once it gets to court both your Dad, and maybe the town clerk may be of unsound mind, medically unable to testify or God forbid-deceased. Feeling the "Spirit" yet in the spirit of the law? I can't get into that kind of "spirit" and I sure don't know how that could be helpful, unless it helps perpetuate fraud. Which of course liberals think is just dandy I guess. Because no matter what our personal feelings for this nice lady are (and in my case, I like her very much, so much I asked her to perform the marriage ceremony of my wife and me!)- this points to the fact that her judgment may not be what it once was.
And I would not even be commenting on this had not the liberal democratic party (with their media accomplices) begun to circle the wagons, accuse the republican party of being the evil-doers, pretending this is all Parisi's fault, and then spinning this into a bullshit tale that it is "picking on Eunice" or "picking on the elderly" or "trying to stop progress" or whatever kind of shite they and you are spewing. The state (last I checked it was not a GOP bastion) department has looked into this and has made some sort of finding. She has admitted to doing it. It is the liberal democrats who consistently stonewall and defend any form of wrong doing when it is going on and then play the victim card every step of the way, here and elsewhere. Can't any of you admit that she made a giant lapse of judgment here and that it is being dealt with in the proper channels and for once, JUST ONCE IN HISTORY, there is not a republican in the woodpile trying to destroy the town, county, state, nation and planet earth as part of a giant right-wing conspiracy??????
NOBODY IS PERFECT, and I certainly forgive her. I really do since she thinks she was trying to be helpful. However, the serious consequences that can arise in such a matter lend themselves to very, very very bad instances of criminal fraud right in down the line for those who might take advantage of such a kind and helpful lady who is willing to bend the rules, and my examples above are the tip of the iceberg. If Eunice had said, "yes, I did it in the spirit of helpfulness, but in retrospect I shouldn't have. Now I know that it is a big mistake. It is nobody's fault but mine." and the democrats or conservatives, or whoever else runs town hall these days had said " It is an unfortunate mistake she made and the proper authorities are dealing with it" or something, this would be yesterday's news. But noooooooooooooooo, it was spun by both the dems and their girlfriends at the gazette that this is a terrible evil GOP plot.
Remember your own mantra..."It is the cover-up that is worse than the crime."
And I am done commenting, personally, on this. |

It's sad this is becoming such a partisan issue, and blind loyalty to parties is limited free and clear thinking. Pretty obvious it's making it so the Dems are making excuses and the Reps are trying to line her up in front of the firing squad. |

I don't want to line her up in front of any firing squad. I think that to deflect it to the other party and to stonewall it is despicable. The shouts of 'It is the damn republicans who are at fault" is what keeps this story alive and makes people more pissed off. Nobody "picked on her" and that tired refrain is getting very stale. I have a greater beef with the political power brokers in the dem party who are trying (along with the Gazette girls) of trying to make it look like she was "ratted out" and assaulted by right wing extremists and such. I personally don't want to see her resign or any of that. The defending and stonewalling and defecting it to the lone minority member is what upsets me. The pile on of the GOP by the gazette and the thugs is absolutely ridiculous and blatantly partisan and it serves to use Eunice as a martyr just like they did all last year during the town campaign. It is ridiculous. |

And what of the blanks? They're just demanding the right thing be done. Equal justice for all. Fair evaluation, investigations and following of the law. Tea baggers I think they're called, right? |

If they were smart they would use her as a martyr. They are just going about it the wrong way. Have her take a fall for the team. Say, we won't stand for this, and kick her to the curb, a painful decision that upholding what's right is more important then what's popular. But we all know that won't happen. It's just sad to me that their is even a discussion about someone who did something so blatantly wrong. |

How about someone notarizing your living will or DNR papers........ this doesn't appear to be that extreme, but lapse in judgement???? I dont know......I like her and she presided over my wedding also right in that nice center window at TH.....just us and the secretary...... |
