SCHENECTADY -- Shari L. Greenleaf, the top attorney for the city school district, was arrested over the weekend for driving without a license, police said.

Greenleaf was charged with aggravated licensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, after her car sideswiped another vehicle parked on the street near her Sumner Avenue home, police spokesman Luciano Savoia said.

Police said they discovered that her driver's license was suspended for failing to pay a traffic fine in Niskayuna. State Department of Motor Vehicle records show her license has been suspended since July.

"She told the officer she paid the fine," Savoia said.

Greenleaf was also charged with driving an unregistered vehicle after the 10:41 p.m. accident.

A lawyer since 1987, according to court records, Greenleaf, 49, has been the leader of the city school district's legal fight over the arrest of Steve Raucci, the former buildings and grounds supervisor now accused of carrying out a campaign of bombings and intimidation against enemies.

SCHENECTADY
Lawyer slapped with tickets
Unpaid fine leads to charges after minor accident
BY STEVEN COOK Gazette Reporter
Reach Gazette reporter Steven Cook at 395-3122 or scook@dailygazette.com.

Schenectady City School District attorney Shari Greenleaf was charged Saturday with misdemeanor aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, authorities said Monday.
Greenleaf, 49, of Sumner Avenue, was charged just after 10:30 p.m. with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle, an infraction.
Greenleaf said by telephone that the incident stemmed from her hitting a parked car, then finding out a previous ticket in Niskayuna hadn’t been resolved as she had believed.
“This is a personal matter,” she said. “It has nothing to do with the school district.”
Greenleaf said she hit the parked car and, “like any responsible adult,” called police to make a report.
Officers responded and found that her license had been suspended for failure to pay a fi ne in Niskayuna, Police Department spokesman Sgt. Luciano Savoia said.
Greenleaf told officers she paid the fine, Savoia said. Greenleaf was told to bring proof to court and the proof would get the charge dismissed, Savoia said.
Greenleaf was backing out of her driveway when she struck a parked car. ................>>>>.................>>>>......................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00901&AppName=1

"like any responsible adult" she ignored a traffic ticket so her license was revoked? -lol-She didn't see the expired registration sticker? Then to top it off she plows into a neighbors car? OMG!

This is all over the media generating more laughter for the horrible City School Bored. She is costing the City sheeple thousands in her Watergate attempt to keep public information private. Enough is enough.

"It has nothing to do with the School District"? OMG! She is the legal representative of the School District. Everything she does-reflects on this district. Like it doesn't have enough problems?

From failing to fire the Mad Bomber, to failing to release a report the sheeple paid for, to wasting precious tax resources hiring outside legal counsel. No wonder Karen Corona had no comment. Enough is enough.

Schenectady school attorney has little respect for the law

The Jan. 26 article about attorney Shari Greenleaf [“Lawyer slapped with tickets”] makes me wonder if she can be trusted to uphold the oath she took to practice law.
She tried to snag credit for reporting an accident, “like any responsible person”; her position as an attorney conveys greater responsibility than us regular folks, so that’s pretty cheesy. That she can’t back out of her driveway without hitting a parked car [indicates] she was not paying attention “like any responsible person.”
Her driver’s license has been suspended since July 2009 — six months — yet she was driving. Suspended because she failed to answer a summons, no less! The registration on her car had expired, too.
I’m starting to see a pattern here: She ignored the summons (a stop sign violation), she ignored the suspension, she ignored the registration renewal. To me, it looks more like she thinks she is better than just “any responsible person,” and society’s rules don’t apply to her.
All this casts serious doubt on her credibility [as a representative of] the Schenectady City School District. If she really is a responsible person and lawyer, she should admit her misdeeds, accept the consequences without argument and stop practicing law. Obviously, she hasn’t had enough practice.

Problems linger for school attorney
Codes case, missed law fee are among issues facing Schenectady lawyer

By LAUREN STANFORTH, Staff writer
First published in print: Wednesday, February 3, 2010

SCHENECTADY -- City schools attorney Shari Greenleaf, who was recently charged with driving without a license, was also recently threatened with the possibility of an arrest warrant for failing to appear in City Court on code violations at her home.

Greenleaf also has a lien on her property for failure to pay two quarterly tax payments in 2003 and 2004, and it has been more than four years since she paid the fee attorneys must pay to practice law in New York state.
In May, city records show, Greenleaf was cited by the codes department for cracked and peeling paint, deteriorated mortar on the porch and foundation and yard debris at her 1174 Sumner Ave. home.

She was given 30 days to correct the problems. In September, a codes enforcement officer cited her again and -- after she did not respond -- referred the case for prosecution to the city's law department.

She was issued a ticket to appear Nov. 9 in the civil division of City Court. After she did not show, the court's chief clerk sent Greenleaf a letter saying if she failed to appear for another court proceeding on Nov. 23 a warrant for her arrest could be issued.

She appeared on that date and was instructed to fix her home by May 3, 2010.

Greenleaf, 49, has been one of the school district leaders at the center of a controversy concerning former facilities supervisor Steven Raucci, who is scheduled to go on trial March 1 trial on charges of placing explosive devices at the homes and on the cars of his enemies..............>>>>.............>>>>............Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/AspStories/story.asp?storyID=896360#ixzz0eTTbBnAx

Greenleaf must come clean, and resign

What’s with Shari Greenleaf? The attorney for the Schenectady City School District, as well as other district officials, think her personal legal troubles are her own business and no one else’s. We might be more inclined to agree had her runins with the law — each followed by an utter lack of responsiveness — been limited to one or two. But the list now seems long enough that any district taxpayer or parent would be justified in wanting to know what the heck is going on with her.
Anyone can overlook something like the need to renew a car registration, or mail in a fine for a traffi c ticket, both of which Greenleaf did last year. Two such oversights — if that’s what they were — could even be explained away if the person were, say, preoccupied with their job or family life, or simply absentminded. But Greenleaf was reminded about the traffic ticket — she was even threatened with having her license suspended! — and still failed to mail in her fine (though she reportedly told the cop when she backed into a parked car recently, and was cited for unlicensed and unregistered operation, that she had done so). ................................>>>>.................>>>>................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00700&AppName=1

Get out the broom at Sch’dy school district

Re Feb. 4 article, “School attorney has legal troubles”: How can it be expected that Shari Greenleaf would keep [the] Schenectady school district in order when she cannot, or refuses to, keep her own affairs in order?
Although I feel it is her personal life in question, it reflects an habitual lack of responsibility on her part.
I think the time has come to not only clean house at her residence, but also for the residents of Schenectady to do their own housecleaning as well.
