A rep friend of mine just called me and told me that letters were sent out saying that this wed night, the reps were going to give parisi's position to Longo. Any one else hear about this?

I don't think it's Parisi's position.  It's Attilio Tebano's now.

So the Rotterdam chair is the person who runs the Town meetings?  Parisi is the out going Town lawyer correct?  And Longo is the guy who just got his stipen reduced(what seems to me like an obvious move to get rid of him)

I must be missing something.  Parisi who is the current town chair(and out going town lawyer) is being replaced by a guy who had his position pretty much disolved?  Ahhhh Huston we have a problem!

Who is Attilio Tebano?

I am currently really confused.

Which Parisi position is Longo being appointed to?

- Republican party committee seat?
- Republican party Rotterdam Town Chair? (that Tebano holds/held?)
- Seat on Town Board - Republicans can't fill this seat.  The current Town Board would do so.  Perhaps the endorsement for the
   Nov 2010 Special Election?

Jim is a nice guy.  Whatever "seat" it is, it can only be considered an improvement IMHO

It is neither Parisi nor Tebano...Longo will be the new Rotterdam Chairman.

The "baton" was taken away from Tebano weeks ago. It is now just a matter of formalities for Longo.

Absolutely correct, BT.  As a Rotterdam Republican committee person, Jim has my vote for the position and full support and good wishes.  I hope he can bring about the healing and unity that is needed.  As far as the committee people that didn't help with last fall's campaign, they need to relinquish their seats and be replaced with people that are willing to walk the mile(s), to support this fall's slate of candidates.

Gerard is doing a great job as a councilman and should run in the fall.  I watched with amazement the meeting broadcast on Saturday on Channel 16 at 1:00.  By far Gerard is professional, knowlegeable and trying to do what is right by the town folks.

We have a long shot in the Gov's race that needs all the work of Republican hands and feet to get back in control of this State before it's too late.

The Longo family has a long history of community service. Tebano was a seat warmer. A start but meaningless unless more change occurs. Still rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic?

Well what would you suggest Benny?  Calling it quits?

How about looking at it as a fresh start and another day.  We have a Gov's race to focus on besides our own local seats.  Let's just pull together and get our candidates elected!

I'm sure there's at least one person on this forum to help you resurrect voters, but you too are overlooking the bigger picture.  It's not about just getting a rep elected ... it's electing the right person for the job.  Until the rep OR dem come out with a platform that is palatable, I'll vote for neither.

Gadfly,

Several weeks ago, you posted that there was a Republican Party committee meeting and that Buchanan emerged from
the meeting as the Chair.  Now you have all the inside information on the Town Chair replacement.

Are you a Republican committeeman or committeewoman?  I thought that you were a enrolled Conservative??

Gadfly explain yourself relative to this question.

HH--I mostly agree with you accept on the GP issue.  He's a fool and he looks it.  Professional?  No --he revealed what he really was on Jan. 1--a snide, underhanded, sore loser who went out of his way to denigrate the Supervisor.  Knowledgeable?  No or he would never have made the faux pas about the committee that serves at the pleasure of the Super.  Doing what's best for the towns folks?  No - or he would have respected what other reps recommended and NOT put himself in as councilmemeber.

The Governor's race is a huge long-shot for Reps.  It will be Cuomo to take the place of the man who didn't expect to ever be Governor.

alleykat, you keep saying that GP was wrong about a committee that serves at the pleasure of the Super, I assume you are talking about the IDA? What have you seen that demonstrates GP was wrong? All I've seen so far is that in the Jan. 1 meeting, the Board paraded some attorney up there to say the Town Board could remove the IDA, then another attorney was paraded up there to say the complete opposite. Sounds like a bunch of arguing without a real answer, no? Has this been litigated without anyone in town knowing? Isn't that really the only way of really determining whether the removals were proper? Short of that has there been an official request to the Attorney General, or for that matter the Town Attorney, for an official opinion on the matter?
