that is not true!!

Perhaps we all don't agree and kinda try to chew up one another, but we are 'all' passionate about our individual thoughts and perceptions. We banter back and forth trying like hell to get our points across. There is no causing trouble.....just differences of opinions and sharing information.

.....and we have a hell of a lot of fun doing it!

So again Giants Fan.....welcome on board!

Oh it's just a message board!! It's just fun. Clearly no laws or legislation will be passed by this board. Again....it's fun!

I found this board while looking for an article on Mr. Del Gallo.  So I started reading your posts.  Very interesting bunch you have here.

I am not currently in NY.  I am in the Army and heard there are some changes happening.  Some, obviously not so popular.

I also see that the new regimes first town meeting didn't go well.  Inexperience in that forum?  Just getting the lay of the land?  Not having all the players in place?  Having said that, is the individual who was running the Town meeting the town lawyer who is on his way out?  That seems odd to me if it is.

Anyway, I am not sure how much I will be able to contribute to the specifics of the local government not being in Town ( I still hear things   ) but I can see adding to the discussions

Thank you all for welcoming me.

Rotterdam board’s actions both political, hypocritical

Re Jan. 12 article, “Town employee questions layoff”: The irony of the recent actions by the Rotterdam Town Board is only surpassed by the arrogance of these actions.
Does the new board believe residents of this town are so oblivious that we cannot see what is going on? The board fired hardworking Rotterdam residents, supposedly because budget constraints required belttightening.
This is understandable — many of us have had to adjust spending during the current economic downturn. However, the board then proceeded to hire individuals who are not town residents to fill jobs that were [eliminated] because there was no money in the budget. Where did this money come from? Not only did they hire these nonresidents, but they gave some of the individuals raises!
This, however, isn’t the worst of it. Deputy Supervisor [Robert] Godlewski said at the board meeting that the town would be instituting a hiring freeze as well as a spending freeze, all in order to save money because of projected budget deficits.
Here’s a suggestion: When you terminate people to save money, don’t hire others to fill the positions. And, if you do fill these positions, don’t give the people raises. Finally, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to hire Rotterdam residents in order to keep this money in town.

Nothing we haven't heard already! Let's hope there's a larger presence at the next meeting, other than Ra-Ra-Shish-Kum-Marco.

The FIRST meeting was the hootin' and hollerin' session. The SECOND meeting was the 'snicker' and 'giggle' and 'rollin' eyes' in disbelief session!
