General Electric received $25.5 million in federal tax credits for a proposed $100 million facility that will build sodium metal halide batteries in Schenectady, President Barack Obama announced Friday. Ener-G-Rotors Inc. of Schenectady also received $834,000 in federal tax credits. GE announced in August it would build the battery plant on its Erie Boulevard campus, bringing 350 jobs to the facility. The manufacturing facility will be called GEMX Technologies Inc. The president’s announcement comes on the heels of the latest report showing unemployment remained at 10 percent in December. The tax credits are expected to create 17,000 jobs in the United States and will be matched by an additional $5 billion in private investment, according to the federal Department of Energy. About 30 percent of the projects will be completed this year, according to the DOE. The money comes from the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Just another pay back to old Jeff for praising Obama and lying to the rest of us on his GE owned TV station and just think we get to foot the bill for the kick back IMHO.
yeah,,,,the hourly wage wont afford you a mortgage with taxes in this county.......
It doesn't need to. The people taking these jobs will live in Saratoga County and come right down Route 50 to come to work each day...then jump right back on the same road hoping they don't hit much traffic before they can get out of town.
