Uh......nope! Not when you have the cons and the reps endorsing people with liberal views.

would these be the same we the people that insured slavery would continue to exist in order to protect their pocket books? Yes,I'm sure the NNTP is as pious as those men... Our founders created an amazing government, the likes of which had never been seen, but that doesn't mean their interests were entirely pure...

I never made reference to the 'founding fathers'. My reference was 'we the people', aka, US, the taxpayers, the residents etc....
I know that you must find it difficult to believe....but there really are regular 'residents' that are so disenchanted with our 2 party system and politics as usual status quo, that they are willing to throw their hat in the ring to bring back some common sense to it all. Cause that is just what it is. Nothing more and nothing less!

The name and name only of NNTP is exactly what it states.....why folks continue to defend parties,,,,stale/old/useless political parties that have
no heart/no plan/no spirit nothing left is beyond me.....are we afraid? afraid of what? we have the constitution as our foundation and our
pioneering American spirit......times truly are changing,,,technology/economics/and certainly so shall the politics....but,,,,guess what---human nature
will remain the same.....the object of 'the parties' is to keep the spirit,,,,,and the DEMS/REPS have lost their spirits and sold their souls to the devil of
'me first'..............

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

STOP BEING GOOD DEMOCRATS---STOP BEING GOOD REPUBLICANS--START BEING GOOD AMERICANS

Bumble, I don't disagree. However, I  don't believe all 4 candidates on the NNTP line fit that description.

Well I do. So we will have to agree to disagree.

ROTTERDAM
Town employee questions layoff
Bruhns says political battle triggered pink slip

BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter

Kim Bruhns believes she’s a casualty of the political battle that ensued during Rotterdam’s recent change in leadership.
By week’s end, the soon-to-be former confidential secretary to the supervisor will have the dubious honor of becoming the only full-time town employee to lose her job as a result of cost-saving layoffs instituted by the incoming administration of Frank Del Gallo. But Bruhns, a registered Republican originally hired by Democratic Supervisor John Paolino, doesn’t think saving money had anything to do with the pink slip she was given last week.
“I absolutely think it’s politics,” she said in a telephone interview Monday. “I think it had a lot to do with me working for [former Supervisor Steve Tommasone’s] administration for four years.”
And she believes her case is validated by the town’s move to hire a new confidential secretary, even though she was originally told the position would be cut. Members of the Town Board are expected to expand the residency qualifications for the position and then fill it with Darlene Mullally of Rensselaer.
In addition, the board is scheduled to vote on a resolution that would give Mullally an additional $10,000 stipend on top of the $42,000 salary included in the 2010 budget. Deputy Supervisor Robert Godlewski said the additional money will be well spent, considering Mullally’s extensive experience in state politics and her resulting connections in the Capitol.
Mullally served as a part-time legislative director for the state Assembly last year. She is also an ex-officio member of the National Conference of State Legislators’ Leadership Staff Section Executive Committee, according to the organization’s Web site.
“We feel the return on that investment is going to far outweigh the stipend,” Godlewski said following the board’s agenda meeting Monday.
Godlewski and Del Gallo declined to discuss Bruhns’ claims, citing the privacy of personnel issues. But they both indicated the decision to hire Mullally is being made in the best interest of the town. ..............>>>>.................>>>>.......................................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00701&AppName=1

Town Hall will simply be a "clubhouse" with high-priced members like Mullally!

I recommend a 6 month performance review to evaluate the benefit of hiring someone
with "connections."

The Gazette reports that  she "served as a part-time legislative director for the state Assembly last year."
The Assembly probably gave her walking papers last year and she is drawing on her retirement.
Then she'll collect a full time salary at Town Hall, better known as the  "Clubhouse."

This is an absolute fiasco! We are all aware of the fact that fdg is going to need ALL of the help he can get. The man is waaaayyyyyyy over his head. I can not even believe that fdg is actually allowing such a thing to take place under his watch! A total discredit to him.
I have talked to Kim on a couple of occasions regarding town businesses. Once under Paolino's watch and the other after tommasone's. She was professional and knew every question asked of her about rotterdam.

So now this new SECRETARY steps in at a whopping $52,000/year!!!!!!!!!!! It is mind boggling!!!!

Doesn't Kim have a 'discrimination' charge against this board now? She was laid off, not due to lack of work or money, but only to be replaced by someone who will make even more money than her? The unemployment dept and labor dept could have a field day with this one!

Well rotterdam tax payers....BEND OVER!!!

That's the problem Diane ... y'all are looking at it as "payback" ... not what's in the best interest of the residents.  Do I think Tommasone did? No, not all the time. Do I think Paolino/Constantino/Kirvin did? No, not all the time.

It's time the elected representatives, from whichever party, start doing what's RIGHT instead of looking for "payback".

Bumble, on this, I agree with you 100%. This is a poor use of taxpayer funds. They should have either kept Kim on, or hired a Rotterdam resident. The idea that they need to spend $52K a year on a career political hack to fill the position of secretary is absurd. I can sort of understand the attorney thing...there aren't hundreds of people in Rotterdam qualified to be a town attorney so going outside the town is sort of understandable. But I'd say there are likely hundreds of people in the town that could fill the secretary position. Politics as usual, from the administration that promised us change. Hmmm....Why does it seem familiar to me to have a candidate run on change then deliver more of the same? Oh, yes, look to Washington. Looks like the Rotterdam Board is taking a play out of the Obama Handbook For Success!
