Guess I got out just in time.  LOL
I see the tax dollars that we all paid went to good use....NOT!  How many more studies and studies of studies and studies of the results of studies will the dumba$$ politicians conduct now?  I'll bet they are still  planning for plans for plans.  Typical dumba$$ politics.  Hey, politicians, here it is, plain and simple, "It broke, now you need to fix it!"  No need to study the problem any more it is the same thing that has been going on for years.  You have had years upon years for your ridiculous studies.  Fix the damn problem so the people who still live in Rotterdam can not have to worry about what road will be closed next or what service will be unavailable because you gave yourselves a raise or hired an assistant for your assistants part time assistant.  Use that tax money you have collected from those of us who actually WORK, for projects to benefit the people of the town, not your own bottom line.

Well, now I understand why we didn't get the call here.  Unlisted number.  I had a hunch about that.  But the gazette seems to indicate that you can put your number into that system somehow

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Called today, they can't call unlisted numbers unless they're flagged "ok" ... one quick call got it all cleared up.

Rotterdam still has a few water problems to deal with. There's water seeping up thru the pavement at the corner of Bway and Cox Ave and I noticed that this morning there has been a cone placed over the water shutoff that's in the street.

I think that people are complaining that there has been very little preventive maintenance done on the infrastructure in many decades and because of the lack of that the infrastructure is falling apart. How many times does the water line on Altamont Ave have to fail before it gets fixed properly? How long and how much complaining had to be done by the residents before the town took action and has started to fix some of the drainage problems that have existed for 30 years or more?

$2 a flush
By MARV CERMAK COVERING SCHENECTADY
First published in print: Tuesday, January 5, 2010

There are a lot of hardship and unusual stories floating around after that Christmas weekend major water main break in the town of Rotterdam.

Besides having to boil water, many residents had to put up with very low water pressure or not even a drip. The diminished water pressure precluded people from many usual amenities including showers and toilets.

In connection with the incident, I noticed a man at a Price Chopper Super Center checking out with a shopping cart filled to the brim with water jugs.

A cashier asked him if he needed so much drinking water because of the broken main. The cart contained more than 20 three-liter bottles of Poland Spring water.

"Nope, I need the water to make the toilet work,'' he said. "It's costing me two bucks a flush.''

There's still some water bubbling up thru the water shutoff at the corner of Cox and Bway next to Dunkin Donuts and I wonder if it was left for the new administration to deal with.

By the way things are starting out it looks like there are going to be some problems between the highway/water/sewer department heads and the highway superintendent is an elected position and does not have to follow every order from the Town Board as was found out by the extinct water board when working on drainage issues in Masullo Estates.
