Bullying and Broadway don’t seem to go together, but in this case, they do. Proctors has received a $5,000 grant from The Broadway League to develop a program for Schenectady High School seniors about bullying in schools in conjunction with the upcoming musical “Wicked.” “Wicked” tells the classic “Wizard of Oz” story, but from the perspective of the Wicked Witch. The show is coming to Proctors for a 32-performance run beginning Dec. 9. Proctors will develop the program for 12th-grade students at Schenectady High School. Workshops will take place with specially trained teaching artists using the novel on which the musical is based — “The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West” by Gregory Maguire — as well as the show and improvisational techniques to focus on the show’s themes.
