What's wrong with society is the tunnel-vision with which you neo-cons suffer. Not everyone can afford to display the righteous indignation that comes so easily to you. You think incarceration corrects this situation? Yes lots of these women have aids which they have gotten from needles or men. Yeah let's put them in jail so we can protect the poor innocent men who might patronize them.

Look, just call the horizontal entertainment professionals and give them all the respect and dignity they deserve. However on a serious note, most of these people come from very bad homes and were subject to abuse and degradation of the worst order as Cal say. However there was a young lady who I grew up with that came from a lovely family, and except for her father passing on when she was 10 very suddenly, ended up dating the wrong men and going down to Hamilton Hill for fun and then getting hooked on drugs during the early days of the crack epidemic, and then prostituting herself and then eventually being murdered by a man and buried under some front porch somewhere. Nurture, nature, Darwin? You tell me.

GB--yes I know that story if it is the family I knew. I think it was on or near Mynderse Street unless you are thinking of the Rotterdam case. Does no good to be crass as others (not you) have reacted here. It is people like me who will be standing next to the families of B Gage and others when they are dying in the hospital trying to comfort those members through a sad process. Nothing negative about folks like us. The negative comes when you don't even try to help someone.
This was the Rotterdam case about 11 years ago. The young lady had everything going for her except she wasn't physically beautiful and you know how the society puts pressure on young people to be gorgeous or be no one. But certain types of bad men paid attention and saw her low self esteem. ...and men like that can pick up on that like radar and hone in. Your garden variety abusers, molesters, batterers and monsters tend to be able to sense low self esteem in a woman and pick them out as victims. The "pimps" of the world all have that innate talent I imagine. For a healthy man, low self esteem is a huge turn off.
Well anyhow, there have been notable prostitutes who were not low on self esteem. My cousin spent his early 20's in LA back in the early 1960's and you would be floored to hear first hand accounts of the real Hollywood Babylon. Some pretty famous actresses who worked their way up got their start selling their bodies for $1000 a night THEN. For them, it was a career move. But I am sure they weren't getting whacked and beaten, or hooking on the street. Their clientele, and price was commensurate with their beauty. They were just waiting for the right "John" who happened to run a studio, or be a big director, then would 'fall in love" with him becoming the mistress. Eventually these ego-maniacs would begin casting their mistresses in film roles, and then getting tired of them after the career was launched, go find another young lady of the evening and start the cycle again.

And it's the type you first mentioned that need to be helped. Thank you. The girl I knew, actually had a similar persona and was the niece of a colleague with me. She was found I think on Mynderse Street one of the streets just up the hill off State Street but before Swan Street.

I know that girl I think. The mother is from Schenectady and I think she was at my house with David Kaczynski. Yes???? That was a TERRIBLE case and the other is remarkable.
It's amazing how GB and Cal can be so agreeable on this topic. I can't decide whether the conservative GB is violating a womens right to choose this profession or if Cal is having a personal conflict with a women right to choose what she want to do with her body.

I am a Catholic. If abortion is murder so is the death penalty. I am against the latter so I am against the former--but ultimately I think I woman has the right to choose what she does with her body yes. BTW I have six kids most abortion opponents have less than that. That also brings up the birth control question--again I have six. How about you????
